I was wondering how long it takes from placing an order for a handgun to when it is shipped. My wife ordered one last Tuesday and yet has to receive any further emails other than the one from the website confirming the order, and some emails with Gary in regards to her questions about STATTs.

It says that it is complete on the website. How long should we wait before we ask again. She went with Wanstalls because they have a very good reputation.

you should call your cfo. trust me, wanstall's guys are ALL about customer service. they don't take your money, sit on it, and twiddle their thumbs. they work hard
and do everything they can(from my own experience) to make sure the gun you buy gets in your hands as soon as the cfo clears it. they've shipped non-restricted
the same day sometimes. if they cant catch it the same day, they get it the next day, 100%.

so yeah. i know you're eager to get that new gun, but trust me; these guys are doing their end, no doubt. it's your cfo thats slow on his/her paperwork.

Thank you very much, I guess its just the waiting game then.

Ordered a few restricted's from Wanstalls and they are very quick to ship once they have the CFO approval. I see the CFO taking on average 2 weeks to approve the transfer and Wanstalls ships as soon as they get the green light from the CFO office. Usually if it is taking longer there is a reason and the CFO needs more info from you like range membership, etc. WHY DOES EVERYONE ASSUME THE DELAYS ARE DUE TO THE RETAILER??? From my experiences the business members on this forum are top notch!!!

Oh and be prepared to wait another week or two for the registration documents from the CFO office...needed before you can take your new purchase out for its maiden voyage.

Yeah Wanstall guy's are awesome. Ordered an Ar 15 on Monday, shipped Tuesday, and had it on Wednesday. Great guy's to do Business with, Would not hesitate to shop with them again.

I have made two restricted purchases recently in BC. Wait 7 days (or less if you like) then phone the CFO. They will get you your STATT by email. Do not get it mailed. It takes 5 weeks. You have to be prepared to wait 30 minutes on hold. They open at 9am. Call at 9:01am I have bought many guns from wanstalls. They are very good at doing their part paperwork wise.

Last restricted I bought (few weeks ago) seemed to take a bit long. I contacted the vendor and they said they hadn't heard back from cfo's office so I called the AB cfo and it was sitting there waiting for me to call. The vendor had my place of birth wrong... 5 mins later, I had a transfer in my inbox, shipping notice shortly after. It's worth a call if it's over a week for cfo approval (in Alberta), just be nice to them and they'll fix you up fast. Good luck.

btw: not saying that Wanstalls has submitted wrong info, just my experience with an honest mistake.

Bought an AR-15 in-store on a Sat., waited a 1 business day for them to catch up on paperworks, called CFO the next day morning, in the afternoon, had the AR-15 home.

Canada Post strikes again. Apparently Wanstalls has shipped it already, but Canada Post has yet to send her a tracking number....

Wanstalls is trying to get it for her now.

INCORRECT... Your transfer approved document IS your registration until your registration comes in the mail. If this was not the case, you could not take the gun home with that transfer document and an ATT. They would not be able to provide an ATT to commit an illegal act.

thats not exactly true, my friend. i had a problem that settled with one of the retailers here. the owner is a great guy, but his
workers are so disorganized and i couldn't get a proper answer for my gun. wanstalls has been extremely consistent with their work ethic.
everybody who works there, wants to work there and enjoys it. thats what really makes them stand out.

Once they process the order the pick up the phone and start the transfer at the same exact time. It can take weeks or 15 minutes it all depends on the CFO.

I have a general question and sorry if im asking in the wrong place. I just got my restricted and was wondering if I can order a handgun right away or do I need a ATT. The way I understood was that I only need the ATT once I want to start going to the range with the gun.

You can order one without an ATT is the short answer. Then getting it to your house from the post office requires a short term ATT unless it's delivered to your door. The long term ATT is to and from the range (or authorized gunsmith). I think you need to have a gun registered to you before they will give you a long term or short term. Im sure someone will correct me if that's not the case.
