Good for you nice rifle on a budget alot better than a Remington 710 or the new Remington 770 but those guys are right u might want to look into a after market recoil pad they are kind of tuff on the steven's I don't own one but I was holding one a few weeks ago down at WSS.

I was never cool, and the recoil doesn't bother me. I once got a .300 for a song off a friend of mine who couldn't take the kich with the hockey puck. I like it, let's me know I'm still alive.

Good choice Pharaoh2! Nice shooter at a good value. Plus it will remind you of getting hit by a slapshot in the shoulder... Don't mind the critics, you can get a good recoil pad on it for way less that the Remington logo cost's...

It should be fun. But Troutseeker, I just realized I have to hate you. You are living in my favorite city. I would love to live there, but I can't afford it! Do you shop more at bear creek, or A & C? I've found that A & C had a great selection of used firearms that really caught my eye.

It is a nice city, I was lucky enough to get here in 2002 before the latest mega housing price hike. I wish I had gotten her in 1998...

I shop at both stores as they are the only ones in town and I like to support them both. A&C has lot's of consignments and the most reloading stuff. Bear Creek has some decentlocal knowledge if you get along with the staff.

Do you come here during summer like most Albertans???

Actually, we tend to come in Feburary or March. Things just always pop up. Last year it was a wedding. but I'd love to be there Septemberish. As for one of the stores, I laughed and finally walked out after listening the one guy tell a customer the only stock he could use to replace the broken stock on his browning was $800. And that he should buy a .300 Ultra Mag instead of the Standard Winchester mag he was looking at because it's the only real mag. I keep a field journal of anything hunting and fishing related. I take it everywhere I go, for phone numbers and such. Part of my entry for Feb 18, 2006 reads;

"Some poor sap wen't in looking for a LH Browning .300 WM. The guy wen't on about a 6 month wait how crappy the browning is and tried to talk him into a LH Rem Ultra, saying it's the gun he shoots and it's the baddest gun out there"

As I said, I got a chuckle out of that. If I remember right, the customer was just a little guy, and I thought the WM would have beat the tar out of him. But I do like both stores. They have that little store, hoppes number 9 smelling feel to them.
