Does anyone order bullets, or other reloading supplies from the US stores like Cabelas, Bass Pro etc?

Are there border crossing issues?

thanks

If you ship to a PO box across the border, will there be issues crossing the border, or would the GST being paid be the only issue?

If you pick up from a postal box on the US side, and carry the bullets back, you will be violating US federal law. CBSA is content to collect the tax. There is a sticky about export from the US.

I have ordered from Midsouth shooters supply, and no worries, only problem $100 max us funds per order. I had a chance at quality bullets on sale , and made 2 seperate orders:rolleyes: , gotta wonder about the stupid rules we have in Canada.

Thanks. How is this company allowed to do this, and Cabelas is not?

They are taking a gamble

when they ship products to Canada that require permits. If US customs ever opened a pkg destined for Canada and it was on the list of requiring permits, Deep DO DO!!!! Whenever I order from the US I order what can be legally shipped into the country without permits. If wanting bullets it would be a lot safer to do a big purchase. Get the permits in place and find a exporter from the US to work with. I would sure hate to be the person who might ruin it for a business across the line. I have had bullets shipped in the past but have since stopped. The shop that I deal with has been to good to me in the past to put him in jeopardy.

In regards to shipping it to a US mailbox across the border, picking it up, driving it to Cdn customs and declaring it, you still take a chance of getting checked. Cdn customs could care less unless it is not declared. It is not our laws but the US laws. It is getting silly but I feel we are deemed terrorists. We are not law abiding CDN citizens in the US Gov's eyes.

I have ordered MANY lots of projectiles from Ebay sellers in the USA, no problems at all. Some of the packages have been opened by customs for inspection, and still no problems...

To all of you who are ordering bullet/components without U.S. Export permits you are in violation of U.S. law.

ALL reloading components require a U.S. export permit regardless of value. There are NO exceptions.

Aliens in the U.S. (Non U.S. residents)CAN NOT posses Ammo or reloading components without proper authorization while in the U.S. You can have your vehicle & goods seized, along with being held for up to 30 days in jail without being charged.

The U.S. authorities do roving spot checks at border crossings and a few fellow CGNs have had the experience of going through them with a few hassles.

if you are having restricted items shipped to yourself here in Canada, you may have your order siezed by U.S. authorities and your name/address will be flagged by them. The business that shipped the items to you will be ine a world of ####.

Midway USA no longer ships to Canada because they were caught shipping without the proper permits and were fined $500,000 U.S.

You are also violating CGN board policy which states that the Import/Export regulations of BOTH Canada AND the U.S. MUST be adhered to if posting info on this board.Any posts that admit to violating U.S. law & CGN policy will be deleted or edited without warning. If the same members keep violating CGN policy & U.S. law, they may be suspended from the site.

This topic keeps poping up over and over, and the warning have been repeated MANY,MANY times.

All members should read through the CGN rules & policies from time to time to refresh their memories.

I order bullets (rifle and pistol, even those 135 Nosler hollow points) regularly from edited by guntech in the US for more than 2 years now. This is perfectly legal. I had some packages opened up by the custom and all made it without any problems. As already mentionned, I keep my order below US $100 and NO permit is required to do so.

Go ahead order what you need fr0m the US dealers who have no restriction on doing business outside the US.

If the price of those items were reasonable in Canada, that will be my first choice, but infortunately, some dealers are overcharging badly. I cannot figure out how a Canadian dealer can come up with a sale price for bullets that are 40 % more than an individual who pay US retail price, shipping charge and GST and come up ahead of buying them here in Canada.

It isn't perfectly legal you moron - read the previous posts about US law.

Some companies or individuals may be getting away with it, but they are breaking US law when they do. Canadian customs do not enforce US law and since Canada has no restrictions on possessing bullets, they simply collect the taxes and release them.

I may be obtuse for suggesting this, but isn't the onus on the US company you're dealing with to be in compliance with their laws and have the right permits for shipping goods to Canada? Christ, we're the stupid foreign consumers, they're supposed to be the experts on what they can and can't do within their own borders. For example, there was a completely above board CGN group order of 1911 mags from a US company recently. In theory (though not likely in practice) couldn't all the larger stores acquire such permits?

"...isn't the onus on the US company you're dealing with..." Yep, but you'd be out the money.
"...couldn't all the larger stores acquire such permits?..." Yep, but if you've never been to a Cabela's store, it's hard to imagine how busy they are. Canadian orders aren't worth the extra paperwork and expense to them. Even on a week day, the places are packed.

Levi Garret & Janeau, if you two insist on advising CGN members to violate U.S. regulations & CGN policy regarding Import/Export Regulations, you will be removed from this site.

This is your one and only warning.

Both of you go and re-read the CGN board rules & policies on illegal activities.

What you two do when importing items from the U.S. is your own business, BUT DO NOT post about breaking U.S. regulations on this board.

This had been discussed here MANY,MANY times.
