Wondering if somebody could give me some information, I have a savage FVSR and want to put a new stock on it. Is it possible to order one from Boyd's gunstocks? Or is there a process you have to go through? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The process is easy. Make sure total order is under $500 before shipping and add to cart. Done and done. You will need a new trigger guard, bottom metal, and longer bolts. They can be bought from boyds as well. Also you can't order the tacticool stock.

Might be helpful to call and place you're order as well, I found I got a much cheaper shipping quote over the phone than I did through their website. Don't forget the bottom metal, it won't work without it. I also got dinged at the border on customs charges so beware, that $90 stock quickly turns into upwards of $200.

You get screwed on custom fees with UPS mostly, others carriers are better usually but the best is USPS which transfers to CanadaPost. Never have any custom fees unless its a high value item (we're talking 300+ don,t know the exact point).

Mine was definately shipped USPS and then transferred to Canada Post. $10 for them handling it plus $10 for duty I believe. Only $20 but that was on top of an already rediculas $50 shipping fee. They quoted me $30 on the phone after I'd already ordered it. Good product though and it looks great.

That's odd, never happened to me and I shipped and received A LOT of stuff from the US in the past 10 years...

Just received 2 stocks from Boyd's. They only ship USPS to Canada. Shipping was $60, then another $40 for customs charges. So after a $182 US order of 2 stocks, to my door cost $311 CA. Plus Boyd's didn't wrap the stocks we'll at all, 1 wasn't even wrapped (who knows maybe it was customs?) and the one had a dime sized dent in it when they arrived. Too much hassle and cost to return. Just be aware

I have bought 3 stocks from them. Never a problem. All in great shape and about $50 each in shipping and fees on top of the stock price.

This is incorrect info... ANY imported item over $30 CAN is subject to levy... this does not mean it WILL be levied for brokerage fees and tax (Boyd's stocks are manufactured in the USA and are not assessed "customs duty" fees)... in addition Boyd's does not ship via UPS, they ship all packages to Canada via Postal service (USPS-Canada Post)... about half of the packages get through without being levied fees at the Border, for the others, you pay tax + $10 brokerage.

OP, your gun is known as a MKII/93 "E" receiver and that is the stock version you need to order... it is a simple process... and you can place the order online, Boyd's will NOT give you a better shipping price over the phone... they use a software program that manages inventory and orders, the shipping is added by the software... it is exactly the same aa placing the order yourself... I have dozens of orders through Boyd's and have never had a problem... great product, great price. Heed the advice above, you will need a new TG, BM and longer action screws.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Another option: Numrich has take-off laminate stocks (complete with buttplate, trigger guard and bottom metal) from the BV models. And they sell A LOT of other goodies... :) I have one on the way. looks like I'll save a few bucks over the Boyd's option.

Not sure what stock you're looking for but you can try eastern sierra armory. I just picked up a TR take off for cheaper than boyds. He has a few different take offs he's selling cheap plus he ships to Canada cheap!

Just a heads up to you OP.

I've recently dealth with Boyds. The stocks were good but the customer service was absolutely ridiculous.

If you want the stock and you're fine with the shipping charges, go ahead and order it. Dont expect any customer service.

Packaging of the stocks (as one poster above mentioned) was pretty bad too. Just a piece of brown paper, no padding. I expect a lot more with their high shipping rates.

Boyd's ships tens of thousands of stocks... the packaging may "look" skimpy, but they have found a simple method that works... in spite of the experience noted above, I have never had a stock arrive with damage of the 50 or so ordered.

Ive ordered a couple of stocks from them.... stupid shipping, IMO, but no brokerage fee's. I wish they would accept money orders still, so I could ship to the US parcel service i use. pisses me off..... customer service was fine, in my experience. I dont know what the other guy was complaining about.

There be pirates...

I ordered a Boyds stock for my Savage Mk II just last night.
I don't expect they make a dime on their shipping charge--
I seems to me that postage fees shot way up last year right
across the board.

I used UPS once a few years ago and swore I'd never do business
with them again. They wanted as much for their "brokerage fees" (?)
as what Boyds is having to charge for shipping. I think their initials
stand for United Piracy Service.
