I ordered a M93 .22 from Marstar and had a a question to anyone who had dealt with them before.

My initail request to order the gun was on January 16, 2006. I recieved a email back from Jill prompty and she was pleasant no problems.

She asked for the usual information and then the last I heard from her was on the 17th.

I have sent her about 2 emails to ask the status of the order but not heard back from them.

I,m sure there just busy but I am just wondering if this is normal.

I bought the pistol as a gift for the old man and wouldn't mind knowing when I should expect it. I,m in no rush but more curious than anything.

Whats the usual turnaround time with them?

I tried to order one of those just over a week ago over the phone. I was told they were out of stock and they would not have more in for about 3 weeks.

I've only ever ordered from them by phone, but each time the transfers went through right away. When I ordered my SAA from them in the fall, I couldn't believe how fast it came via Can Post. In fact, the only time I've had to follow up on an order from Marstar was on a DHL related problem.

LOL - yet another bad communicator for me to talk about....

Ordered three frames in December from Marstar, paid immediately via VISA, and that waas that. Hadn't heard anything for about two weeks, nothing taken from my VISA acct, so I emailed three different ppl to ask what is going on. I get one reply saying that the transfer is not done. I ask for a reference # to call the CFO and ##### because I had a few other transfers go through in the mean time (started after I bought the frames and finished before I emailed Marstar; my average CFO time is a day or two). That is the last I have heard from them. No shipping info, no reference or transfer info, nada. I have tried calling but can never seem to get through because of the time zones and the hours I work and God knows why else, and no one has responded to my emails (I have emailed specific individuals as well as their "Orders" email address). They have my phone #, email address, and just can't respond to my emails and requests for information. I'm leaving in a few days and if I have not heard from them by early next week, I am just going to cancel the order. If it is a CFO delay, so be it, but this lack of communication is a real kick in the balls (especially coming from a reputable company).

While I'm sure we'll have a response directly from Marstar in this thread soon, here's the only advice I have for you - no matter what, PHONE THEM. They would be far better off deleting all email addresses from their website, as Marstar is notoriously unreliable for replying. I have had good service over the phone and by fax (another option for you?). They owe me a replacement Tok 7.62 magazine from a couple of months ago, I'm trying to be patient :)

I started dealing with marstar some years ago and at that time I was always dealt with personally by John or his wife, the owners. I received nothing but exemplary service and I stuck with them through the rough times a few years back when they got raided (which was a bogus affair) by the OPP and BATF. Having not purchased anything from them in a year or two I tried to order a low end .45 frame parts kit back in december. Emails were not answered, so I called and spoke to a lady I did not recognize from past dealings. She put me through to a gentleman in parts that was also someone I had never heard of before. He informewd me that a parts kit would be no problem and had plenty of norinco parts to make up several kits. I followed through and internet ordered the kit.... and heard nothing for 3 weeks, at which time some other guy who must also be new emailed to say that no parts for 1911's would be availlable till march..... i'm confused. In the past I always dealt directly with Chris in the parts department, a great guy, Very knowledgable and now apparently he is no longer employed there. It is possible maybe that John and his wife have taken a lesser role in handling things personally and those running the day to day business aren't keeping up to the service many of us have come to expect. Just my thoughts

####ty communication lately. I had an almost identical experience ordered a m-93 about 3 weeks ago and had to harass them to get on it and was promised it by now. Checked today and they still had not charged my Visa yet. So I called and cancelled my order. I bought a Ruger MKIII 22LR bull barrel 5.5" instead from Wholesale. Best price around and guarantied a WAY better pistol then the M-93.

I inquired about a muzzle brake and perhaps a mount for the VZ/CZ-58.

No reply in over a month via email.

So What Says Marstar???

Is Marstar in the business of selling guns & gun related stuff or what? And what's up with the questionable service outlined above? Not answering e-mails? Then why have an e-mail system at all then? They seem to spend money on those double page adds in the Cdn Access paper.... Why bother then if there's no follow thru?

Seems like bad vs good reviews are going about 7 to 1 right now in this thread. I personally haven't ordered anything from them but a few things on their website look appealing....

Maybe I'll hold off until someone from Marstar gets on this thread & clears the air a bit.... ;)

I've always had good service.

I imagine they get alot of tire kickers via email...

I prefer to do business by phone anyway...

Having had a previous life in IT networking, I really don't trust email that much, it still goes through a public system, the corporations providing it are in it for $ not customer service, and it has plenty of possibilites for failure.

If I don't hear back from an email within a day, I pick up the phone. (and in some cases just phone) It's not like long distance is very expensive anymore.

It may be nice if someone from Marstar happens across this thread to give thier side of the story, but it can be easy for them to miss it to.

There really is no substitute to talking directly with someone to clear things up.

I agree, probably lots of tirekickers, but there are a few of us with orders in that have not recieved any transfer or shipping information despite emails to different individuals at Marstar, as well as the main "orders" email. I will try phoning again and maybe this time I will get through....

I get about 75-125 emails per day at work...(I work in IT)

About 20 of them are important...the rest are just FYI or I'm on some bloody cc list...

I have to weed through them all, and the end result is...sometimes it takes me a while to answer the important ones...and sometimes I just forget a few...

The joys of email...

I can only imagine the volume Marstar gets but I'm betting it would take a full time person to go through them...

I'll bet if you give them a call, it will be solved in short order

Cheers

So true. They must get so many emails from people bored on the net asking questions about guns when they have nothing else to do, or enquiries that are really just to satisfy their impulsive curiosity rather than an enquiry leading to an actual sale.

As Canada's most famous gun store (arguably I suppose) I would like to know how many emails per day they get.

I've been trying to get a hold of them on and off for two weeks. And this morning as well. Here is the number posted on their site. 888-744-0066
All it does is ring forever, no answering machine or anything.
If you call this and get through, I'll give you $10. monopoly money lol

I got a hold of them right after I posted. I was calling to cancel an order I placed back in Dec by phone. Turns out there is no record of that order ever being made.:D Worked out ok I guess, I can't see myself ever calling them again though.
