I just got some speedloaders from Brownells (delivered in 10 days)& some mags from Kimber (delivered in 18 days). No problems. Customs inspected but not opened.4string said:Any problems ordering 10 round mags from the states? Will Brownells ship them north?

You have to order over the phone as thier website store is not able to recognise a Canadian address. The Custom Shop number where you order from is 914-964-0771 ext 324. It's helpful if you have the part numbers from the website as you talk to them otherwise they have to look them up while you're on the phone. I received my mags and a couple of shirts I ordered a few days ago after about two and a half weeks. I placed another order for 4 more today now that I know there are no "issues" doing that. Ironically after I did that the guy from TSE in Calgary called to say some Kimber 8 round Pro-Tac mags had come in and was I still interested so if that's what you want and you live there give them a call....by the way do not order a ball cap from Kimber as it is a horrible fit and made in Bangladesh (I don't know if the 2 are related but it seemed wrong somehow)..4string said:How did you get Mags from Kimber. I placed an order with them and got a call the next day saying they wouldn't ship north. That was last week.

The Kimber subject became an offshoot of the threads originator who was asking about ordering 10 round mags in general. I think it got a bit sidetracked but I do have to say that better is in the eye of the beholder. Stock Kimber mags that come with the pistol are not the best but the mags I refer to are the premium stainless Tac Pro eight rounders (also avail in 7 round) that can be ordered optionally and come with two different size bumper pads for extended magwells etc. The followers are teflon coated and excellent with light alloy frames such as my Tactical Custom II. Wilson 47D's are great but not the only good magazine out there.X-man said:Why order Kimber Mags when there are better mags on the market? Was Kimber selling at a discount, etc...?
Did they actually say that was the reason and they didn't just backorder the 4th? My last 2 orders from Kimber and Brownells were both more than $150.00 and no problem.leadfoot said:FYI I ordered 4 from Smith & Wesson online and the only problem was they shipped 3 since it totalled more than $100. What retarded policy. I should have just made two orders if I had known. Just ordered two more from the M&P Store and they are on their way.....
Yes they said the $100 limit was the reason. I phoned them and complained.BC Mike said:Did they actually say that was the reason and they didn't just backorder the 4th? My last 2 orders from Kimber and Brownells were both more than $150.00 and no problem.

Kimber Tac Pro mags have teflon coated metal followers and I use them in my aluminum framed Tactical Custom II. They are as different as night and day from the stock Kimber mags. In comparison the stock mag followers and springs have a gritty feel. Tac pros are very smooth loading & feeding. I've got 6 and just ordered 6 more.X-man said:Does the Kimber Tac-Pro have a plastic follower or metal? If they're made by Metalform, then they should be good mags. The only Kimber mags I've seen are the stock mags. Seemed okay, but nothing to blow your socks off. I prefer Wilson, but also use Metalform, Mec-Gar & OEM Colt mags. They all work, but I like the Wilson's, especially in aluminum frame guns. The plastic followers are much easier on 1911s like my Lightweight Commanders, etc...Seen too many pics of LW Commanders torn up by metal followers to risk it.
