Hey, Im just curious if its OK to order scopes, rings, rails etc from china/hong kong ? The site says it ships to canada and worldwide, but dont want any surprises when I order. I know ordering 99% of any gun related stuff from the USA is a no no but curious about china. Found way better deals on scopes etc Im looking at getting. Thanks in advance

Not a problem. Done it myself and the packages arrive at the door simple as pie in the usual time frame for being an asian source point.

It's only the US which has a bee up their butt.

Remember you get what you pay for . Cheap Chinese scopes can fog up and then they are useless

I hear you. Theres a 30 day money back guarantee and also the item I am looking for is exactly what I was looking for at lebaron but they dont have any in stock. There is lots in the USA when I google it but obviously I cant order from them.

I have bought a lot of scopes, lasers, sights etc from China...the main drawback I have found is that they don't adjust always in nice predictable clicks, they often have to be reset/re-zeroed after bouncing around in their cases etc...and like someone said, they are mostly designed for airsoft. But I use them mostly for recoiless .22 and they're fine. Some of the zoom scopes I have bought have a bit of distortion at the higher (10-16X) settings, but are fine under that. I have bought from Chinese sellers on Ebay.ca...one favourite is Red-Star## (some number, I forget). Takes a good 3-4 weeks to arrive. No customs hassle ever. Not under $100. Not yet, anyway, your "Conservative" Prime Minister says he's about to clamp down though. With free shipping, there is no need to combine your orders, or you may get dinged.

I would say they were not of the quality needed for much over 1-200 yards, IMO, or for wet/winter use. But for my needs, $60 bucks beats $600.

Other things, though, like bipods and rings and weaver rails etc etc...the ones I get from China are identicial, IMO, to the "branded" ones I have got for 5 times the price here at my LGS.

A (very) surprising source of "tactical" gear, including some with free shipping, is Amazon.ca!

Sorry retailers - I aways support y'all for guns 'n ammo, but I cannae afford 400% mark-up on bits of aluminum alloy and steel.

scopes?

100% legal
101% garbage
0% chance you'll actually bother to try to get a refund, considering the conditions & shipping costs

rings?

100% legal
99% great
10% effort on your part to figure out exactly which size / dimensions you need

Hey thanks for the info. The scope Im looking at is for an sks/ar15 and not airsoft. However the only reviews that are negative on cabalas.com is that you have to sand down part of the sks mount. But I think this is the same for any sks mount you buy from what Ive seen online. I dont mind doing a little filing. Gives me more time tinkering with my sks.

I think BP7 summed it up pretty good...if it's just metal parts and stuff, rings etc, Chinese is fine (that's where they stuff is made you buy HERE, lol)...

Optics? Well, I've never owned any really good scopes, although I've used a few over the years. I'm not a hunter, so I mostly just use them so I can see the d*amn target, lol...my Chinese scopes I pretty much have to zero each time at the range - but I'm getting good at it...1 or 2 shots and I'm as close as I need be. And so when I see $2000 for a scope, I do not have the chops to appreciate that, lol. That's enough to build a robot and have it run up and lob a grenade!

My Red Rifles I have left open sighted...but I can definetely see the attraction in a scoped SKS.

For the record, I just remembered a guy at the range that had the same cheap-ass China-bay scope as me on his M305 (m1 copy in .308 I think), and it was holding out pretty good actually.

They're $40, lol...it must drive the $2000 scope people nuts! Sure - there's a difference...but $1600 worth? Hmm.

You can't help but wonder how much of that is paying for the brand, not all, but some...

I would never buy a $2000 scope. Like you said 'That's enough to build a robot and have it run up and lob a grenade!' would be a better way to spend $2000. But $80 for a scope and sks and ar15 rail is worth it. COuld probably sell the ar15 rail which I wont use for $20-25. I dont mind having to zero in a rifle at the range with a couple shots.

99% of the obstacle to ordering gun related stuff from the USA is their export regulations. That isn't relevant when ordering from other countries, (unless they make the mistake of shipping through the U.S.)

Nothing on that website is legit!!!

Cheap chinese knockoffs, and I hope it all falls apart in your first outing!

No excuses for supporting that crap!

What are you talking about ? If canada made a scope mount for an sks I would gladly buy it if it was well made. What website are you refering to ? Do you happen to own a chinese SKS ? You got some issues to come on here to bash peoples potential purchases and hoping the item would fall apart on them.
