Does anyone know some military armour who can number an un-numbered new inglis barrel the same as on the gun? I have un-numbered barrels.

The original s/ns were routed/engraved. An engraver should be able to duplicate this if he had tooling that was hard enough to work in steel, rather than softer metals like brass or silver.

Alternatively, the s/n could be stamped, but this wouldn't produce the same fidelity. Once you locate a set of stamps with approx the same font size as the original markings the trick would be to make up a brass spud to fit the chamber so as to avoid any distortion which might be caused by hammering on the stamps.

Stamping will not give a good appearance. It must be engraved.

It is my understanding that the lower frame, upper slide, and barrel were all engraved at the same time by a pantograph type engraver.

You should be able to take your upper slide along with your unmarked barrel to a firearms friendly engraver to get the job done. Leave the lower frame at home.

Maybe I'm the only one thinking this, but why would you want to number a non-original barrel to a gun, other than to fraudulently sell it as a matching gun?
