I stopped by the Canadian Tyre in Ormocto N.B. at lunchtime today [ 28/AUG ] to get some monkey piss for the truck and was checking out the black bayoneted SKS rifles that just arrived .The laminate and regular wood stock are $199.00 with all normal fixins. [ sling/oiler etc ] All years present and all have black bayonetes. The mag has a internal block so the bottom is not molested. The guy at the counter told me they just got x2 crates late yesterday and would take me out back to check them out.In the bottom of crate #2 there they were x4 Ishvek regular wood 1944 rifles. There are only x3 now so if you are local to this store and want a Ishvek SKS these are very nice. No 1949 ones but every other year is present with quite a few 1950/1951. cheers!

I seen SVT's at Canadian Tire Fredericton.I asked the folks (Canadian Tire)up here in Douglas Town Across the Bridge from Chatham when they are going to start selling rifles, they said they got no room, what a stupid answer ???

Yes not good business sense to me. With the popularity of Duck Commander etc the general public seem to realize firearms are no real danger to them. The Browning logo seems to be everywhere lately but I am in rural N.B. Hard to fool most Canadians over the long run I guess.I was up your way a few weeks ago and had a great time.

I doubt guns get them the mark up to bother cutting out other stuff. Why sell rifles at 20% mark up when they can sell everything else for 50%.

The manager told me it could be two years before they sell guns. They have to do an expansion first.

The difference is, nobody with any sense buys something at Canadian Tire at the full price; we wait until it's 50-70% off, at which point the margin is less than the guns. And if we do pay more than that, just save the receipt and get a price adjustment the next time it goes on sale.

Guns and ammo are not weekly flyer items, so it's a solid margin. As long as they can attract the customers, there's money to be made.

CT is *terrified* of losing much of their house-wares market share to Target's entry into Canada. Wal*Mart has already eaten into almost everything they sell. But neither store has guns (though W*M could conceivably start).

Out here we call it "moose piss"! LOL!

Ha ha yea you would be suprised all the names I have heard for it. I told a dude at work about these rifles and he was gone in minutes and scored x2 Ishvek and was very happy. When I picked up mine I could not resist and got another one.One of them showes no signs of refirb.

I saw the SKS's in Oromocto about 3 weeks ago, they were 149 bucks apiece then.
Went back last week and they bumped the price by 50 bucks.
Young miiltree guy sais they were still 149 in Freddy...don't know if that's right.
5o buck hike was too cheeky so I didn't bother.

Yes about a month ago there were some good deals in Freddy. I scored a 1935 Moisin Hex for $125.00. It now sits in a Boyds Prairie Hunter Stock [ walnut ] $75.00 and a UTG bipod [ $30.00 ].Got a Scout scope mount from TRADEX for [ $16.00 ].Was in town a few days ago and all milsurps have gone up.Got my SVT sniper from them for $259.00 with all the fixins and it has the AVT stock.
