well, not quite. thought you fellas might get a kick outa this. bought this nice carcano from a board member, had some extra holes in the side of it, other than that, its pritty much the way it is suposed to be. it shoots great with the iron sights, so, i was lookin for a project today, to stay outa the dam wind. got diggin in the junk box, and, well, this is what i come up with. scope actually ended up almost over the bore, and there is JUST enough room to put the clip in . pritty funky looking hey?...

cant wait to try it out...

it looks kinda awkward, but it isnt as bad as one might think. i have to drill 2 more holes in the mount, as there are 4 in the side of the rifle. if it sorta shoots ok, ill cut the hoop out of the mount where the old rings were before, and weld in a flat peice, make it look better. and then, if it holds on target, ill silver solder the mount to the side of the reciever, for no movement. THEN i will have me a good new antelope gun !

LOL Beater _ see that's the way to do it. It would be interesting to see if it moved with the 4 screws and loctite. Maybe you dont need to silver solder it in place.

Does it have sufficient adjustment to get to point of aim?

i havent shot it yet, but over the hood of the truck, at 300 yards, the bore and scope seem to line up pritty dam good.
i am gona give it a try tomorow, if its not to windy
im going to shape the bottom of the plate a bit more to the reciever after i drill the other 2 holes. it seems fair solid actually
