What is rule #2
I think that's reference to not hotlinking to other websites unless they're a sponsor of CGN. so basically you interrupt the link by separating the h ttp:// or the w ww. like that...or do what I do and drop them entirely because they're almost always never needed for when you copy and paste :)

What is this gunbastards? Tried the google and nothing?

I guess it must be gone. It was a website which was around towards the beginning of CGN and acted almost as a dark side. I believe that there was some animosity, but we would go there to find out what happened to CGN when it went down, Which it frequently did in those days.

Gunbastards had metamorphed from a previous site if I am not mistaken. Perhaps those with better memories would remember more or correct me.

I thought that only applied to businesses? For instance, what harm is done by hotlinking to YouTube, CNN, BBC, Fox etc...I doubt they're going to suddenly come on board and give Greentips money. Well, maybe Fox :)

Personally, I hate rule #2 myself but it is necessary in some cases..

So here are the answer and the principle behind it

1) Whenever you link to a poll, they know where it comes from. So if you create hotlink at CGN to a politicial topic or poll, they will know who it is "organizing" to skew the poll. Not good opsec if you are trying to do exactly that.

2) Business link - it is actually to CGN advantage for people to hotlink as many website as humanly possible- now people know where their customers are coming from. However, we need to take care of those business who are chipping in for the website.

On the otherhand, it is common sense - a hotlink to a factory or a shoe factory that sells gadget that has nothing to do with our dealers business - no one really cares. The idea is that business that does not sponsor the site should have the same exposure as the dealers. Afterall, your bandwidth is subsidized by the business who advertise here. As long as the hotlink does not belong to a business that is in competition with the sponsored dealers, then it is fine. I must admit I have difficulties to clearly illustrate this point to the moderators at times.

So my infraction penalty point can be rescinded? Mr. RePete?
