OTOKIAKS Spring Hunt 2013 pics.

HAHA glad you folks like the pics. The skidoo I own is a 2013 Renegade ACE 600 fourstroke with HPG rebuildable shocks I had set up for my weight and type of terrain I travel over and hunt. I have approx 700plus miles on her so far and honestly not sure what my mileage is ... just know I've filled her up 2 1/2 times and that's it ... it's amazing on fuel and has wicked low end pulling power ... I LOVE THIS SKIDOO. I'm hoping if the weather clears up to go back outland and shoot another muskox possibly and definately tuktu, wolves and wolverine if I see some. FEELS SOOOOO GOOD to finally get outland again as i have been beyond busy with work last couple yrs.

p.s. somebody ask if it was an LRB rifle ... no thats my ROCHELLE she's a Springfield M1A ;)

Life has just been SUPER SUPER BUSY with me forever now ... finally getting outland and doing some hunting and soothing the soul and getting my sanity in order as life's gone by way too fast. I love being out and seeing new area's as we did on this trip and into area's Iknow a tthe end. I hope the weathers good this weekend as I may do some day trips outland and see what I can find and shoot! Cheers c-fbmi,

I had a good friend grind up some muskox meat today for me ... time to BBQ some burgs, make spaghetti sauce, sheppards pies, etc. HAHA Id say i have enough for awhile. :D

Naptha stoves always work in all cold conditions. I also use a propane one in spring but it's out at my cabin buried under 20 feet of snow. HAHA You only use the fur from a wolf for either mitts and around the hood of your parka or you make it into a rug. Skulls usually sell to others too or keep and mount.

Well I drove my skidoo out to the ice flowedge on the Hudsons Bay yesterday afternoon looking for some geese and parked myself on a small island ... I saw quite a few going north and south as there's not much for open fresh water as we're still kinda in winter up here and loads of snow fell last week up to 90cm's. I got off one shot and got myself one goose. I'm head inland a lil bit from the coast today to my cabin this afternoon and hopefully shoot some ptarmigan or geese and any 4 legged creatures I see. Cheers CGNer's,

shotgun 1 - goose 0 ... :p

We don't eat the wolf meat nor have I thought of trying it. Anything we don't eat usually goes to friends dogteams. As for how much would a large male weigh ... 100 pounds or more ... I really don't know as I myself have never caught one to date. My friend Sonny James caught that one in the pics I posted ... it was a large male but we've seen much bigger believe it or not.

^ Of course I believe they get bigger. The body size on some adult males in Alberta is freakin enormous; 150lbs and up.

A buddy of one of my co-workers shot this wolf. It's a pretty decent size.

There you go somebody with actual weights and pics of a big'un! HAHA. Thanks Demonical as I wasn't really sure.

Well I'm looking at taking Friday off and having myself another long weekend and go hunt for more muskox and hopefully this time a wolf or two ... possibly wolverine and definately some caribou this time around ... my problem is I can't decide on 1 or 2 more muskox as I'm told I can shoot 4 more and get tags. :D

Note: Don't eat Wolf meat, and I wouldn't recommend feeding it to dogs either. They transmit Hydatid disease to humans, and canines and ungulates are carriers.
Not sure if the parasites survive the cold up there, but a general good practice. Use the hides and skulls, and the rest for bait.

atr more pics for sure! ElkMasterC I haven't caught a wolf before and if I do I only plan to use the fur for a rug and skull for display. I took tomorrow off so I'm headed inland to go hunting again ... feels so good to get out after the longest time being busy with work. Cheers CGNer's,
