Ottawa bunny hunt

I'll be bringing my ATV to get into the area. If you have an ATV bring it, if not I can take one more person on mine but I only have one helmet. You'd have to supply your own.

We will be meeting up at Tim Horton's in Winchester at 7 a.m. There will be a spot near the hunting area for you to park. I will have my 4x4 GMC with me to haul a few people in if we need it and also to extricate anyone who gets stuck. By the sounds of it the group who gets the fewest birds and bunnies buys coffee for the rest =). Again PM me or BuckHunter, we have 3 confirmed attendees thus far. Warm clothes, blaze orange and a Camera would be good things to pack.

Damn... Can't do this weekend - the wife said something about getting my shopping started and that I have hunted nearly every weekend since September  Does anyone else think that's not nearly enough hunting time? :D

If you plan to do it again in the new year for 'yotes and/or bunnies I would be interested!!

I have a quad but nothing to tow the trailer with. Will be leaving from North Gower area if anyone in kemptville needs a ride. I also have a 3/4 box of clays I could bring if thats still on the menu.

Just to confirm, this will be for bunnies/grouse?

List of stuff to bring:
Gun
Ammo
Warm (orange) clothes
Whistle
Other?

Bunnies and grouse are the quarry of choice. I won't worry about the quad. I have a bunch of clays so I wouldn't worry about them. Diemaco I assume you are familiar with the Winchester area. PM if you need directions.

Lunch.. Food is always a good thing! :D

I'll be bringing hot dogs and Turkeyslayer will be bringing a small stove. We'll do a bit af skeet/trap if the going is slow or we're done early. No one will tell you not to bring it.

Just got a confirmation from Bluemike807 (Thread starter) that he's in also.

Now the list stands at:

Turkeyslayer1300 and possibly brother
Thebuckhunter
diemaco
marc_motox
bluemike807

5 and possibly 6 confirmed. Spots are filling up....

Hey buckhunter, What about bowhunting?

Most of the area's around Ottawa are open until the end of the month for bow, any chance of that on these farms. If not I'm still interested in getting some yote hunting in on weekends over the winter. I'm off Christmas eve day, be interested in going that morning if possible.

I'd love to go even though I live in Mississauga. However am missing most of the required items. Hopefully we can get this going in the new year sometime (when I'm more properly prepaired). I could use some/alot of pointers. Good luck guys!

The deer numbers are quite low in my area. We had 5 guys and only took 1 doe. They are mostly nocturnal with the odd fawn/doe going through the areas. That's the reason I started scouting for coyotes early this year. I usually start in the new year but, the last 2 years have been crap for deer around my areas.

Let's start killin them damn yote's.:sniper:

When we were there last weekend the snow was light and fluffy, with this cold weather we have been having the snow aught to be fairly crusty and hard. There are some semi-cleared trails that may be more packed down by deer and maybe by people on sleds.

I drive a Cherry Red GMC Jimmy, so you guys sould look for that when we meet up. I don't imagine I will be too hard to miss. There's still room for a guy or two more. See you all Sunday.

A tip for snowshoes for hunting, as in off groomed trail use,
go for the traditional style ones and not
the new fangled high tech ones.
Used sports stores, or on-line ad pages are good
places to get used. (or Summer garage sales)
But can be had in the $100. range new and will
last a life time if looked after.

Bow hunting ends for Deer on Dec 31st,
but pretty sure you can hunt bunnies
and other legal game with it after that.
