I'm back in my hotel and getting freshened up after a very intense day at the Vankleek Hill GC. What a cool place. Indoor shooting of the M14's and then mic'ing the brass for chamber size!! :dancingbanana:

First of all, I want to thank johnone (Marstar guru) for hosting the CGNutz M14 addicts at the club. It was a super location being 1 hour from Montreal (for the frenchie CGNutz M14 addicts) and 1 hour from Ottawa, to accomodate the Eastern Ont gunnutters. Without his help, this clinic would have been a tougher show to put on.

Second, I need to thank Greentips for his foresight in building such a great community. Without his vision (well, whatever he calls it  ) we could not network the way we did, over the M14 addiction. He is a great guy, even if he dresses funny for our matches! I thought that I dressed goofy, now he's got me wearing a plate carrier for a service rifle match.

Next I want to thank all of you other CGNutters for having such an open mind to my stale jokes and my lack of material to make you giggle. Thanks for coming out and sharing your tools, you knowledge and some experience. We did a pile of shimming and tightening up of the rifles!!

I met all kinds of Ottawa M14 lovers, and I met more frenchie M14 addicts from around the Montreal area. Glad I was able to meet all of you. Now we can place CGN handles to faces. Most of all, we can expand our networks for people and contacts. I am truly glad for that.

Okay, gotta go for a steak at the Keg in Bytown Market before the lineups build.

So, now that you dudes are home and relaxing ? What did you learn? Well, aside from not having yer #### fall off....

Peace be to journey,

Barney

superb job by hungry very nice clinque your a gifted teacher and i went home with the precious list of stuff i need and dont need to keep my #### from falling off.

cheers

That was an amazing clinic Barney, you could definitely make it two days of tweaking.

Glad I wrote everything down or I would of forgotten most if it by now. That was a big double hand full of M14 information. Especially the go/no-go headspace info.

The best part is that with all the money I'm going to save by not having my #### fall off, I can spend it on ammo and shooting.... or more guns

Thanks again, and thanks to John for hosting.

Just got in after a 4 hour drive home from the clinic...this is an awsome course and well worth attending...tons of useful info and no B.S.....Jokes weren't that bad Hungry (probably because we did not hear them before) and we heard some pretty good tales about other CGNer's...great chance to meet the Guy's and do a little mythbusting (so your #### won't fall off) and save some money....thanks to John for hosting the get together and parts delivery and a BIG THANK-YOU to Hungry for putting it together....When is Part 2 ????? or Part 3 ???? This is one clinic (besides the one for V.D.) that you have to attend if at all possible...

A well needed session

It was a great day, a big thank you to hungry and john for all of it !

What did I learn ?
-The famous tune-up "feeeeel"
-Tight is better
-A truckload of tips tuning, takedown & greasing the thing
-A lot of reloading questions have been answered including the headspace myth solution
-Hungry has a hardon for kreiger heavies :runaway:
-To love the M14 even more than before :dancingbanana:

The last and not the least: Make sure I've got any ID and to not move if I ever meet Greentips :ar15:

That was a gas; it was fun putting faces to all the names from the board, and the clinic was incredibly informative. I'm really glad I took notes; they're going to be invaluable. I was almost disappointed that my M-14 didn't really need much tweaking :).

Hungry, the clinic was a blast and thanks for running it for us; the DVD really doesn't do the clinic experience justice. Any chance of you throwing an M-14 201 clinic one of these days?

Thanks also to Johnone and the Vankleek Hill club for hosting us. It was a great venue.

Sparky210, thanks for pulling my car out of the snowdrift I'd parked it in, and Metman2 and klrklr, thanks for the lift down to Higginson's at lunch!

:dancingbanana: I'd just like to take the time to thank Hungry for taking the time to come out and show us all a thing or two about the M14.

I was very happy to learn I could save a lot of money by not doing some of the modigfications I was planning to do to my rifle. And that my #### won't fall off.

I was very pleased to find out just how good my Norenco M14S is regards to quality control. It's too bad I didn't buy two of them at the time, but that's the way it is.

On another note, I'd like to thank John from Marstar for sponsoring the event. ;) Its nice to be able to put a name to someone I've been doing business with for a number of years, and look forward to doing business with in the future.

To therest of the M14 owners in the area, a bunch of us from Montreal were talking about putting together some sort of service rifle competition in our area for plane jane service refles. :sniper: If any of you are interested in doing something like this, please e-mail me your contact information and location. And who knows, maybe we can get something happening.

Best wishes,
Graham
KLRKLR

Thanks Hungry, had a good time and learned a lot.

Now that I have my hands on the m-14 clinic video I can make it available for download. Anyone interested? I know the idea has been talked about in the past but no one ever came through with hosting it online. Hungry, what are your thoughts on it being available on the internet? Would it be a problem if people outside of CGN could get it?

Hungry here: First of all, I don't own the information. 2nd: The Taliban czcksuckers are not threatened by me (yet). So I'm not concerned with OP Security, even if I might be a private contractor in some hot and sandy location (me : the wannabe  )
So, feel free to host it if you have the memory space and the bandwidth. Allow anybody to copy it freely, since that saves me a fzck of time burning the over 300 sets I've sold here in Kanada. My compliments !!

A big "Thanks" to Hungry and also John. I had a great time, and learned enough to keep me busy tinkering with my Norinco for a while, and without going broke. I'm glad I took notes!

It's also nice to put faces to some of the names.

The only disappointment I had was realizing that I gave away all my fired re-loadable .308 brass after swallowing the myth of "No neck-sizing for M-14's" :(

Thanks Hungry, had a good time and learned a lot.

Good idea my disk did not work!

What did ya learn......

1) Self-realisation that each time I see a fat bastard heavy barrel(Krieger, Douglas, Barnett...) I get a combination of a Pavlovian salvating response and crackhead zombie affinity to the (bullet shooting) pipe.

2) I probably have more fun tinkering with the M14 than I do shooting it. :runaway: :runaway:

3) How silly and funny it can be to congregate with a bunch of CGNutters in a barn (unbeknownst to US DHS) and how we probably should have had each other pulling on the shim stock from both sides to give tension rather than just wacking and stretching metal into useless rounded burrs still on the roll :p :p Live and learn ....but I've got shims at home anyway.

4) I become a giggly bastard at the sound of everyone doing their ping test....and again at the sound of a few's oprod spring guides slingshoting through the air. :p

5) That Smith muzzle brake is sweetness to the maximus and has hotter orifices that a prosti from Amsterdam. I need one.

A great session! It was especially nice to meet my CGN brothers. :)

The tweaking continues... In fact, I spent yesterday evening, and most of today doing even MORE tweaking. My wife is gonna be pissed when she gets home. :runaway:

I'm home now after that drive from Ottawa. My son wanted me to stop by the MECoop in Westboro (Richmond St.) for some DH bike parts. And then I enjoyed the 500 klik drive back to Collingwood giggling about all the ping tests and flying oprod spring guides at the clinic.

I'm also thankful to all of you CGNutters who allowed me to host this clinic and pass on this knowledge. I realize that sooner or later, I will likely get run over by a school bus driver (while I'm out doing bus duty at my high school) and then that will be the end of the M14 knowledge base. So I'd better edumacate all of you M14 addicts to the best of my limited abilities before that day comes , and I will cease to be a tax payer!

So a big hearty thanks to everyone who came to the clinic. Our karma is good !

Peace be to journey !

So Mr Hungry does this mean that you will be taking lots of time off this summer to spread the 'GOSPEL ACCORDING TO HUNGRY". Here's hoping you you have a clinic in the southern interior of BC.

I will be moving from this rental place to my new house in April (a month from now) and I'm expecting not to be complacent or simplifying the settling in process.

Me thinks that I might have bitten much more than I can chew.... Might have a bigger task ahead of me: finishing the basement, organizing my new workshop, painting the house, landscaping yada yada yada.

Many of you have been through all this before....

Wouhou !

first of all, Big thanks to Hungry for giving this clinic ! Now I'm sure my #### won't fall off ! :D

Thanks also to Johnone for his help !! Really Appreciated that's for sure !!

Like someone else said, it was worth every penny just in the money i'm going to save not buying useless tools I was considering before ! (man my #### was about to fall off ! )

It was also a real pleasure meeting every one there ! Super good bunch of guys !

I also discovered doing some tests on a rifle can lead to some awkward moments: Can I feel yours ? Feel mine after ....:runaway: :D

Super good day ! I'd do it again in a blink !

First I'd like to thank Hungry for the great tips, great teaching skills and overall just great personality. Thanks also to VKGC and John from Marstar for hosting the thing.

Anyone in the greater Ottawa region who missed the clinic is welcome to contact me if they'd like a much less professional re-enactment of it. Thankfully my brain is a sponge and I took a lot of notes so even though I don't have anywhere near the amount of knowledge or experience with the M-14 that Hungry has I can still go over the main topics of the clinic and I would be honored to help spread the gospel.

Now that I have my hands on the m-14 clinic video I can make it available for download. Anyone interested?

I am interested in getting a copy and could also provide a mirror hosting site and/or seed if we want to put this up as a torrent.

Torrent would be easiest, but I'm not going to set up a private tracker, which is why I wanted to to know whether it would be ok for the video to be avilable to the public on the interweb. Hungry? what do you think? If there is a concern we could rar it up with a password.

Also people that would like to download it, let us know what your comfort level is with torrents. If that method is a problem it could be made available by other means.
