Ottawa not giving out ATT"s?

In Ontario, ATTs are processed from the shooting range. Do not waste your time calling becuse they will not issue anything to you directly, if they do, please let us know, I will go walking on my knees to wherever you are and buy you a coffee.

POLICE! FREEZE!
drop the gun and wave your ATT in the air!

The law says its to protect us, so be it. If i have to wait 4-6 weeks for att and it saves a life i will do it.

If your on the way to the range and you see a crime being commited, wave the ATT at the criminal and shout STOP ITS THE LAW.

Follow the law, be a good citizen.

What a confusing mess, makes you wonder about the government. Both of my gun's are being delivered so it's the ATT for the range that I'm waiting on or whatever it is they are planning on doing. I didn't even know you needed an invite here in N.B to go to different ranges, I thought that was only Ontario but I guess you learn something new everyday. So what is the idea with these changes.

I called the other day because I'm moving in 3 weeks and asked for a Short term ATT...I was told I was calling too soon, call back about 3 days before the move. I objected because I had to listen to music for over 30 minutes and did not want to do that again. I was told to call later in the day and the wait would be less. Ridiculous customer 'lack of' service. Why on earth can't they process a STATT 3 weeks in advance of the day I need is mystifying. It will still only be good for that day...go figure. The whole ATT thing is a useless exercise in bureaucratic make work and needs to be scrapped. I hope that there is some truth to ATT changes in the wind.

I would be pumped if they just got rid of it, Just made it so that you had to be a member of a range and kept like a range card on you that you could show if need be.

I would be pumped if the "ATT" was the RPAL. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

According to the Firearms Act (S.61(3)):

An authorization to carry or authorization to transport may take the form of a condition attached to a licence.

So the Law already has provision for doing away with the ATT paper-work.

(This is why they send out a Conditions paper with each licence. Except that they do not have an ATT on it; most everybody's is completely blank.)

Just got my form for my ATT today in the mail. Holy Sh*t they want to know everything about you and your sister. I'm surprised they don't ask how many sh*t's you take a day. Most of it information they already have...

Interesting. So the minister responsible does have a tool to take the ATT paper-chase away from the CFO's.

When I moved, I called the RCMP for an ATT. I told the the lady that I'm "in the process of moving, and need an ATT" to move my guns. She asked if I'd like one for today (the day of the phone call), and I agreed. She gave me an ATT number, and that was it. Don't sweat it, just call when you're moving. I'm in Ontario

If they'll even answer the 'phone. A new procedure at some CFO's offices (here in Nova Scotia, and I've heard else-where) is to let all calls go to voice-mail, and deal with requests the next day (or later).

Between that and government holidays, go-home-early Fridays, un-annouced office closures for staff conferences, or ‘We're just too swamped to deal with anything right now, maybe we'll transfer you to Saskatchewan,’ you'll be lucky to get same-day service.

Many people move on the same day of the month; care to guess if they get backed up on that day?

Ahh...ain't Alberta grand!!
Two weeks ago I received my RPAL. The next day a friend, who was selling me his GSG 1911 called the Fed to initiate the transfer. He was given a file number and we were told to call our CFO the next morning. I called at 9:30AM (when their office opens in Alberta), gave them the file number and by early afternoon I had the temporary and permanent ATT's in my inbox ready to print out.
I truly feel for you guys in Ontario...you're CFO office is patently anti-gun, which is not their job.

I don't doubt it. It is nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone at my CFO even with me leaving messages they don't get back to me, just have to keep calling day after day until you get an answer. They have some parts on my form highlighted and others not.. I'm not sure if i'm only supposed to fill out the highlighted parts or not. Not like you could get any help with the form since they don't answer the phone. I just filled out what i could so they don't deny it or delay it and request more information.

Shh....! The CFO (and Calgary Police firearms guys) are excellent in Alberta. But dont say anything or the liberal gun grabbers will try and change that!

Finally got my ATT today. It came with a nice letter stating that the CFO office was changing the att's. the letter stated that it is no longer necessary to recieve an invitation to go to another firing range. All you need is to be guest of a member of that range. I was amazed at how little was in the restrictions considering all the recent restrictions in Ontario.
