Hi,
I recently got my PAL and RPAL (after 8 months of classes waiting ect) and was all excited to shoot at the RA Center here in Ottawa. I could actually walk there, I live about a 25 min walk away, actually that was my first question. Is that legal, assuming I have my RPAL, the gun is registered, I have my ATT, and the gun is secure unloaded and trigger locked. Can I walk from my house to the range with it? Do I have to take my car, seems pointless when I can walk or bike there as fast or faster than I can drive.
Question 2. The RA Center seems like a total pain in the ass to gain entry into. Might be a good thing I suppose, they must be doing something right because the mandatory "First time safety class for new handgun shooters" was filled up for April, May, and Jun! Earliest open spot was July! Thats so far away that A. I dont want to wait that long, and B. I m ridiculously busy in July with summer things that I cant really commit to that 3 months in advance... I might just wait to join the RA Center in Sept when my life slows down and there is a spot in the class.
Sooooooo any other recommendations on Ottawa ranges? Something to tide me over until I actually get a membership at the RA Center? Im interested in getting this learning curve started! I hear the Stittsville Range has a sat/sun non member drop in, is this a good option? Thanks in advance.
