Yahooo, Johnone at Marstar is my pointman again at the Vankleek Hill Gun Club for the 21 March 2009 M14 Clinic. We're back in Ottawa! Montreal and Quebekistani M14 lovers, here's your chance (to listen to my stale jokes :D )....

* Date: Saturday 21 March 2009
* Location: Vankleek Hill Gun Club
* Cost: $ 35
* Timings: 0900 start - Likely finish up around 1600 hrs

Material Covered:

- Tools for tweaking, tools to avoid, tools that are nice to have but expensive, tools that are overrated and too expensive
- Gadgets that are nice to have, need to have, and useless to have (but I had to buy it to show you)
- Tools that you can make yourself instead of buying, tools that you can have buddies (owe you favors) make up for you
- Stripping the boomstick (you will be surprised at what I can show you)
- Assembling the boomstick, and what to look for so that worthwhile tweaks can be or should be made
- Tweaks that work, tweaks that don't work, expensive tweaks so yer #### does not fall off
- Useless tweaks unless you have more money than shooting ability (many stories to follow at the clinic)
- Common pitfalls, expensive tweaks that work, more ways to ensure that yer #### don't fall off
- Lunch and then tweaking in the afternoon, shimming, pounding out more shims (all hands on activities)
- Lots of networking and socializing all the time. This is priceless (even if the $ 35 only covers my costs).

* Things to bring: your M14, some basic tools, notebook, pens, digital camera, rags, ball peen hammer, punches, screwdrivers, more punches, TIG Welder, Service Truck (vise for rebarreling), fired brass for us to measure, plastic or rubber mallet, wood block or 2, Black and Decker Workmate (clamping ability for your barreled action or stock), masking tape, duct tape, Loctite (blue and red stuff), more to follow as I remember or remind myself.

* Registration: PM (don't use email) me on the board. I'll send you payment instructions. You can choose EMT (electronic money transfer for you online banking fans) or Snail Mail cheques/buried cash. We'll just stick with the fee ! I will use this forum (right here ) to monitor the numbers and payment details. :D

can you give me your adress by PM so i can send you the cash, i don't have EMT
i also can use (FRAUD ALERT) if you want

I think I'm going to grab hold of a coffee laminate for myself. I'm just reading that this stock, the Type2 is an oversized (read : McMillan Fat Bastard) National Match stock profile WITHOUT a stock liner :D and will need glass bedding.
Cheers,
Barney

Hey Hungry; Feel like bringing your stock to the Hawkesbury/VKH M14 clinic and bedding it alongside my Pepper Laminate??? I don't kiss and tell :adult:and I sure as hell need some advice/guideance to get the stock fitted to my M14...

Cheers & THANKS!
Jay

Where can i find rivets for the front sling swivel?

Hungry here: This is my favorite fix. Home Depot or Rona or TSC Farm Supplies can sell you the 2 screws/nuts/bolts you need. I use a # 10 x 24 tpi (turns per inch) x 1/2" long, industrial finish, ALLEN head drive. The black industrial finish looks parkerized. I will literally 'glass' or glue the nuts in place (washers also) and then bolt down the sling swivel plate. No joking, this is the procedure I have witnessed for all my contacts who shot with a McMillan FAT NM fiberglass M14/M1A stock. Sometimes we agreed to countersink the washers and bolts if you had enough 'meat' on the front end. Forget the rivets! They are great for the standard profile (read: thin) USGI fiberglass and wood stocks, but not easily available. The #10 x 24 x 1/2" will be more than what you need for casual target work or casual competition. :D

Hummm interested... let me check the family calender.

I guess you won't have time to cover scope mounting ? I think my rings need lapping.

Hungry here: Nope I don't cover that stuff since it's quite generic to the M14. Many other CGNutters can show you those skills, I mean I CAN do them, but I would rather spend the time teaching tweaking techniques more specific TO the M14, or Norinco M14, unless someone brings along an M1A.
