OttawaHungry M14 Clinic 21 March 2009 DeBrief HERE!

Thanks Hungry & John! Had a good time, picked up some more JB Weld on the way home, the Santa Fe "floated" on the highway all the way home with the 1000's of CMJ projectiles & case of buckshot...

I can't remember all the names of everyone I me today, but you guys were a heck of a great bunch to spend the day with!!! Nice to have everyone helping each other out & messing around with the M14's!!!

Had a GREAT time.

I got to meet a bunch of gunnutz and I also had the oportunity to fondle Sheila when no one was looking.:D

there was a whisper of canadian made bolts hitting the market soon... shhhhhhh!;)

I had a great time too, so a big thanks to Hungry, John, and the VKH GC. Great meeting the rest of you guys as well. Making my own shims was great, something I didn't expect to do, and getting that frakkin gas plug out, which Hercules himself tightened, was a bonus too!

45ACPKING, your Canadian made stock got handled by a few interested Nutters....:D
 
I'm chilling right now in my hotel room. Wow, what a great time. It was wonderful meeting all of you. :D

Many thanks got out to JohnOne of marstar.ca. I greatly appreciate this chance to come to Ottawa and present in front of a great community. What a super bunch! Without John's support, this clinic would not have happened. Many thanks also for those who helped me set up and then helped me/us go and carry out the final tidying up of the clubhouse.

It truly was a pleasure to make this happen. Also a super pleasure glass bedding those 2 boomsticks all the while drooling over those 2 Boyd's match dimensioned stocks. Wow, were they ever a great piece of gear. :evil:

Man, what a great day! Thanks to all those in attendance - it was great putting some faces to CGN handles.

Special thanks to Hungry and Johnone - for the hospitality and great lessons.

Thanks to alex_d and Griff for allowing me to look over their M14s as Barney was explaining stuff in our example filled clinic, and of course to YoungGun85 for letting me use his rifle and some rounds on the range.

A great time was had by all.

Oh, and Hungry - you were closer to Montreal then to Ottawa. ;) Great meeting you!

Thank you Hungry for passing along some of your know how . I'm going to sleep tonight much smarter than when I woke up this morning.It was a fun day and it was nice to see the cgn members there. FUN FUN DAY.
 
Was good to meet everyone, and was wonderful listening to Hungry impart his knowledge as well as pass on some great anecdotes. Was fun, entertaining, and informative.

My M14/M305 was new -- never shot -- when I brought it to the clinic. I went and left my ammo on the counter at home right beside the door where I wouldn't forget it. :rolleyes: TBolt graciously gave me a few rounds so I could try out the rifle. Man, it's definitely a shooter. My first group, standing, off-hand, iron sights at 50m was 10, 10, 9, 8, 8. I'm happy. :)

Went to visit a local friend afterward, who's also a shooter. We cruised around his property for a while on his tracked Argo (too much fun), then he said, "hey come join some friends and me for dinner." Went to dinner -- and there was avrow93. :) Was a great time, and met some more fine folks.

Thank you for the excellent seminar. It was great to be able to benefit from your in-depth insights regarding the M14 rifles, and precision shooting in general.

I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who owns an M14/M305. It is amazing how a few simple, affordable modifications will significantly improve their accuracy (from 2-3 MOA to 1 MOA or less). The ability to do most of these mods on-site also resulted in savings of several hundreds of dollars in gunsmithing fees, in addition to providing a much better understanding of the inner workings of the M14. It was an excellent return on investment, even at many times the price (thanks to Hungry for keeping it so affordable).

The Vankleek Hill Gun Club was a good venue, providing the opportunity to fire our rifles indoors as well (with resultant fired brass for headspacing :) ). Thanks to John for hosting us.

It was also great to meet fellow CGNers for the first time. Thanks to all of you for your assistance, and for sharing your expertise. I was able to see several interesting M14 mods and accessories which I intend to adopt for my own rifle.

Hope to see you on the range in future...:)

What a great bunch of people and beautiful guns! (I now want a Garand)

A lot of great info and i especially loved the hands on approach on the second part of the day were everyone was tuning their gun and helping each other out!!!
I loved the part were we learned how to bed the action and will definitly do it on my GI stock!

So for everyone thinking of attending a M14 clinic, or someone wo wants to tune their M14, it would cost you hundreds of dollars to get a gunsmith to do everything we went trough on the clinic
so for 35$ it's the best money you can invest in your M14

So, I pick up a new, apparently getting hard to find M14S this morning. I'm feeling. :dancingbanana: Just a purchase out of the blue, because it seemed like a do it now or maybe never get the chance again sort of thing. So I run to my CGN viewing machine to look up a thread I'd read a while back about an M14 clinic in Ottawa. What do I find? :mad: s**t, I just missed it. When's the next clinic? Any time this year?
 
Johnone and I are planning on another one Mid March next year! Yahoooo. Still planning on doing a Nov, Jan , Feb clinics in the GTA area since we are learning that there are soooo many M14 lovers around S. Ontario's McSquintyLand... ;)

Us Ottawa guys are wondering. Date set yet? If not, one for the Pembroke area?
 
20 March 2010.... And right now I'm hammering/confirming that date with johnone at Marstar.ca :D

Nothing written in stone YET! This Ottawa/Vankleek Hill event will be our THIRD Annual M14 Clinic just like the Barrie Gun Club hosted M14 Clinic.

Stay tuned, you M14 lovers in Go Sens Go LAND! :)
