He was shooting a bow and wasn't wearing an arm guard. When releasing the string it hit his inner forearm. It is a common injury with a bow. It hurts like hell with a recurve but I assume he was using a compound and thats gotta hurt.

Some of those old Toms can get pretty bolshie. I used to hunt them in the Lauder Sand Hills/ Grand Clariere area in SW MB and called in on one of the farmers I knew one morning. He asked me why I was buggering around in the bush with a shotgun when I could hang around his yard and whack one with a piece of 2x4 like he had just done.

OUCH !
As soon as I seen the pic, I knew what he did to his arm without even reading.....last fall I did the same thing... I don't know if he had a coat on or not, but I only had a t-shirt on. Within about 10 seconds after the string hitting my arm it was red, purple, blue, and a few other colors... and was swelled out about an inch. Mot something I wish to do again lol.

arm guards should always be worn for this very reason. plus they will also keep your clothing away from the string as well.

i have no sympathy for those who get what they ask for. thanks for the laugh :D

lol A real classy guy you are. I know guys that have been using bows for over 20 years and have never worn an arm guard...and have never been hit by the string...apparently if you hold it right, you have no worries.
