glocks are fine, not the prettiest, but who cares? accurate, reliable, can get parts everywhere, great prices; you could do much worse. I've owned two glocks--a G17 and G21SF, still own the 21 and dont regret it a single minute.
walther make a fine polymer too, the P99, and its available in 40cal. Only thing, they tend to be about 50% more expensive than the glocks...but the walther ergo's are REALLY nice!
