First of all, the past winter was extreemely harsh. We even had a 5 foot snowstorm in early march. On top of that, for the past 3 years, we see more and more coyotes and the deer sighting were less ans less frequent. We started worrying early in may and juine. We usually see a lot of deer behind the house that feed on alphlapha, carrot, corn and soy fields. This summer.... NONE. While working on the land, my brother in law saw numerous coyotes, thing that did not happen in the past 7 years.

I'm the only one who saw deer during the 2 week hunting period. I saw a doe running, a buck that came out 600-700 yards away and a fawn that came to visit me on a daily basis.

I had taken a 2 week vacation. The first week to hunt 100% of the time and the second to hunt and to spend some time with my GF who also took a week vacation. It all went to hell during the second week. On the sunday before the second week, my father in law was implicated in a face to face car accident. His truck is ruined but he only suffered sour muscles. But he was not able to milk the cows so my GF had to milk the cows by herself. Thank god her brother helped her. (You guys will ask...Why didn't you help genius ! ). Well, I was working on the house. I have to quickly finish the brick wall for the wood stove in the basement its getting cold now....that took most of my non-hunting time.

Then on thursday, my brother learned that he would loose his job as of today..... That sucked and the mood with that and my father in law's accident was pretty ####ty........But after a meeting,he was hired at another plant of the same company for 6 months.... at least, he has a job during winter.......

So for the first time in 10 years, our score is 0/5 (we are a group of 5 hunters).

Let's hope next year will be far better. We will take care of those yotes during winter......

I'm not a hunter, but talking to a bunch of guys at my cottage last weekend, it seems quite a few of them will only have an unused deer tag souviner from this year's season.

It's the cycle of life. Yote population goes up, deer goes down. Then the yotes have a die off, and the other populations come back up. Start baiting the yotes and have a shooting party.

Yeah I didn't get my deer either. And the coyote population is definitly up, they have been yapping a lot lately and I saw one with barely any hair a week ago.

Planning to buy a Browning X-Bolt in .243 Win this summer. Then I'm gonna look into some serious coyote hunting.

Any possibility of a bounty in Ontario in the near future? that'd be awesome, getting paid to hunt.

In our area about 5-8 years ago we were having bird and deer declining, we went had on the coyotes with both shooting and the trapping the coyotes and the result is that there is more birds and deer have been doing well depending on the winters that we have in eastern Saskatchewan. Best year was 250 coyotes between two people.

No deer or moose at all last season; For a group of 4 hunters :(:(
It was just too warm and they were only coming out at might to feed.
They were on the trail cams, we just didn't see them during the day...
Crossing fingers for this year, hoping that it's a little colder so that they'll come out during the day.
No doe tags though so Bucks only. :(:(
