Quick summary - @100yards - shooting 4-5” high & scopes out of downward elevation....SUGGESTIONS?
Just finished assembly on MDT ESS chassis for my Tikka t3x in 7mm rem mag. Have a Steiner 5-25x56 mil dot mounted with MDT Elite x-High rings (1.5”) & high MDT 20MOA rail.
Took to range today to sight it in today. Bore sighted at 25yards, loaded a round and smacked about 1/2” low right. Shot one more round out at 100yards and adjusted windage and dialed down elevation after round hit 8” high, 5.5” right.
Windage is A-ok but scope ran out of downward elevation...
Tried couple more shots and they were all 4-5” high still.
Been doing some reading/investigating online and leaning towards shimming the rings but I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions before I go this route.
Rail is only able to be mounted one way so not problem... swapped front and rear rings in case ones out of spec, same shot result. Checked torque (in/lb) on action screws, rail screws, scope ring screws. Same result...
Should I zero at 300yards and call it good? Overall scope height shouldn’t cause this should it?
