I have been searching for a couple of powders and have found that vast majority of the usual powder suppliers showing these "out of stock" (an experience that I'm sure many of you are having). My question is just what does "out of stock" mean in these cases. It obviously means that the supplier doesn't currently have the product, but what is the wait time for these items? Is it a matter of 2-3 weeks or several months usually?

Not trying to be a smartass but out of stock really means they are out until they get more. The panic down south has turned that from a short wait to an indeterminate one. The bigger distributors don't know when they will receive more powder so it's unlikely anyone on CGN does.

If its any consolation this current panic doesn't seem to be producing shortages on the scale of the last. With many exceptions prices have remained somewhat stable though many are clearly gouging anyway. I have yet to see any $90 bricks of bulk .22lr.

Best answer I was given is they will have stock when they get it. My shop has orders in place and often don’t know what they will get on their order till it arrives. When I ask timeline the best answer they could give me was “Yes”. Good luck.

Like toilette paper at some point everyone will relax and it will be plentiful again.

glad I stocked up some time ago, the big question is are we going to have any guns to shoot the powder in when turdo gets done.

Of course. My query is about what the typical wait time is (if there is a typical one).

I tried to cover that with the rest of my reply. Unfortunately any hope of an accurate ETA is not possible. It's a bit odd as I have noticed some smaller places getting in very hard to find powders and components they thought they wouldn't be seeing for a long while. This panic is definitely different than the last.

Sometimes it's weeks, sometimes months, and in the past, it was years for certain powders. I always keep enough to last me at least a couple of years, and every time there is a shortage, certain people that never stock up are trying to borrow a pound from me. And this year it's not only reloading components, we are just getting into our clays shooting season, and many suppliers are already running out of target shotshells.

Canada Ammo has Dominion powders on hand at very good prices. I would consider trying them and stocking up, in fact I suggest stocking up at every opportunity.

Better to be a bit of a hoarder with this stuff than run out.

From what I've seen on the Canada Ammo website, I don't think any of the Dominion powders would substitute for what I'm looking for at the moment--Norma MRP, IMR 7828.

Their 4350 was only 10 fps faster than my normal load of Reloder 22 in my 6.5x55, so might be worth trying. I've never compared to 7828, Soni don't know how much slower it is, but it's not that far from Reloder 22 on the burn rate charts I've looked at.
