Good day folks!

I am not really sure where the best place this thread should be, but I think it fits in here the best, First off I would love to put up some pics but my camera is garbage I'm very sorry to say. Anyways I have an old 1955 J.C.Higgins Model 20 12 Gauge shot gun I picked up for 100 bucks at my local shop, it was in some ruff shape all the finish was pretty much gone on the metal parts and there was small rust spots all over the poor thing, but its function was flawless it runs like a champ!, I took it apart and cleaned the hell out if its insides and oiled it back up and now its very clean and the inside of the barrel shines like its new. As for the outside, I decided to try my luck at re-blueing it myself, I am no gunsmith by any means, but for a 100 dollar gun I wasn't too worried. So I went to Sail (a great store by the way!) and looked around and picked up an "Outers Gun Blue Kit" for all of 9 dollars, took it back read the instructions and went to work after the first coat it looked pretty ####ty, but after the 5th coat of blue, it looked really great and I was very happy, the final step was to oil it up and leave it sit for a few hours, well after a few hours I went and had a look and it was beautiful!! the oil made quite a difference in the finish its very very dark and looks brand new!!! I am extremely happy with this product and for 9 bucks you cant go wrong, I will definitely be picking up there wood refinishing kit to do the stock and grip, as well I will be re-doing a (embarrassed to say) spray paint job I did on one of my rifles, a great product at a great price and it really didnt take that long to do, I will update this post when I can get a decent camera and put up a pick of this brand new looking 58 year old rifle!

I've used it on a couple of old junker guns too. It does a pretty good job for what it is. No substitute for a real bluing job of course, but for projects like these it's perfect.
