Exactly correct. I was hit on my atv by a drunk driver in a car. I actually made a turning maneuver last minute that saved my life. If I didn't do that I was being purely run over. The police charged him with everything possible, criminally etc. The judges then took there bribe from the rich mans defence attorney and all charges were downgraded to the point where there was no criminal charges, just a bunch of traffic act fines and suspensions. The long of the short he only get some fines maybe a couple thousand dollars and a few months suspension on his license. Trust me, conservation would have taken his outfitting license and hunting license. But the judge in this case plays at the same golf course with the lawyers in my case.
 
Be happy that this scenario even got before the courts. I have several friends that own rural property/farm in central Alberta.
The s@@@ that goes on (outfitters marvelous deeds, and most often in the company of their foreign client!) and never makes it's way into a CO's report and therefor never a courtroom, is hair curling indeed.

You're right, we're right up there with drug dealers- my wife and kids don't know how to deal with all the dirty money! ;) Lifestyle, passion, or building a rich life for my kids in experiences not money has nothing to do with it. All crap that occurred here in this issue aside, people would be startled to see what the average outfitter makes on a hunt at the end of the day. Like everything in life, there are no easy streets, even more so in industries where you chase dreams. I make a living in one, aviation, and now play in another, outfitting. Neither are gimmes. Light up this post folks, I better get used to it. This guy, did he deserve it? I don't know enough about the particular situation to make an intelligent comment.
 
On a side note, I wonder if the powers that be originally thought of calling Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management (S.E.R.M), Saskatchewan Provincial Environment and Resource Management and then after further reflection decided to take out Provincial to avoid embarrassment?

Being that your from Saskatchewan I know what your talking about....There is for sure under the table transactions with outfitters and landowners to keep residents off the forest fringe lands,however try to prove it.
