Hey everyone. I recently bought a gsg from the gun centre in Kitchener over Christmas. They said they would call me when my att came in to bring it home. Now I realize Xmas holidays and all, they might be backed up, but should it take this long just for a one time store-to-home transfer? Besides being very impatient, and kinda ticked (they said it should be ready to take home by the following week) should I be concerned? Thanks

Not sure how it works over there in onterrible, but in bc the moment the transfer is approved we get a STATT to get the firearm home. And if I had to call to get a short term for a firearm I am already holding, it would be emailed to me before I got off the phone with the CFP.

It may be the store too. I had one where they forgot to submit the transfer. I ALWAYS call within a week if I haven't heard

Thanks everyone.
I've called on 3 separate occasions and they blamed it on a backlog on the governments end being Christmas. As this is my first pistol, I thought that might be normal. Tried calling today and nobody answered. Just going to go in person tomorrow and see what the problem is.

Are you calling the store or the CFO office? I wouldn't waste my time calling the store anymore if they are just giving you the run around. Id call the CFO office and ask if the documents have even been submitted, and what the hold up is. I was waiting for a long term ATT and couldn't get any answers from my range, so I called in the CFO and they told me they had nothing for me the range had not even submitted the papers after a month of waiting. So I was waiting for something that wasn't even submitted yet, So I emailed and called the range and they apologized and pushed in my request right away. Like 2 days later I had my ATT, they gave me a number over the phone as a temp until I got the actual paper document

I live in the GTA area in Ontario and it should not take that long IMO, sounds like someone is slacking. When I bought my first pistol it took 2-3 days, when I bought my 2nd pistol it took literally less then 24 hours, and when I bought my 3rd online it took a few days again. So I have not had to wait more then a few days for an ATT for a new purchase

Call them it should take less than a week.

Great choice of gun btw you wont be disapointed
My transfer took over four weeks to clear for the registration. The TATT took about five minutes. Are you still waiting on the registration? For the TATT I called the CFO and told them I was at the sellers house. They confirmed that I had the registration with me and then emailed the TATT. Done.

Currently I only have the bill of sale, no registration or anything. I'll be calling the CFO today and seeing if they even have any paperwork. This is only for the TATT. As far as ATT goes, I'm still I decieded about Galt gun club or Waterdown. I know with Galt you have to be "invited" into the pistol club, and rifle is currently full. Waterdown is about 40 minutes from me, but my dad is a member there.

Call the CFO. The ATT for pickup isn't going to be issued until the registration process is complete.

When I see a thread like this I think to myself something is very wrong at that store. I have never been held up by the CFO for more than a day or two and have had transfers processed the same day. My point is, when you're having this much trouble with a transfer, you might want to reconsider the store where you purchased it from.

You shouldn't have to post a "WTF thread" on an internet site, the store should be giving you updates and the CFO's number to complete the transaction.

Your confusing two issues.

the STATT only takes minutes to approve, you have your STATT # before you hang up the phone with the CFO if you ask for it. The pistol needs to have the registration/transfer completed into your name BEFORE the STATT will be issued. The transfer can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks in Ontario, sometimes it only takes a day or two. Your waiting on the transfer, not the STATT.

If they are waiting for a mailed ATT that could take a while. The better stores do the ATT online and get it emailed.
The registration/transfer is usually what takes the time.

I thought Waterdown only did trap, archery, and pellet guns?

I called the CFO and as some of you stated, they have no paperwork from the stores end. I've been calling for two days now and the store isn't answering and the mailbox is full. Getting really frustrated with them. Probably won't go back for business after this. I get it now though, I have to register first, which I don't even have the information to do. Going in person after work to see wtf is the problem.
