Over-trimmed brass!

I have a .300 WSM and was trimming my brass to the trim-to-length of 2.090". I was using the RCBS trim-pro case trimmer. Over the course of trimming, I guess the trimmer slipped and I had trimmed over half my cases to0 short (i.e., shortest was 2.083"). Was very annoyed. In anycase I re-trimmed the cases to 2.083".

Only now do I realize that perhaps this was a baddecision. Should I scrap the brass?

BTW - plan on using Lee Case trimmer from now on.
 
don't scrap it, I've had factory brass that was about that much too short after firing!
That being said I don't know if it was still in their QC specs...


What you can do instead of scrapping them is run them through your full lenght sizer, it might lenghten them a bit
 
I bought new remington brass for my 300WSM and it was all shorter than spec right out of the bag. Yours is only 7 thous under your spec? That's nothing.
 
I have 100 pieces of .260 Nosler brass that was 2.015" new out of the box. The trim-to lenght of .260 cartridge is 2.025". so I say don't worry about it too much.
 
i also concure, over trimmer brass isnt a problem under trimmer brass is if any thing, with over trimming u might fnd you end up with a bit more run out after seeting the bullet , but unless your competing u wont ever notice a differance

Good plan. You saved me from telling you the same.

Agree with other posters, that it is not enough to worry about. If you are full length sizing, it will be back to full length with a few firings.

7 thou is no big deal.....shoot them off...probably wont' notice much of a difference from the other ones.

Ill trade you a lee trimmer setup for your RCBS....:D

I started off with the lee and Now im running a forster lathe. I dont' find the lee cutters and gauge do that great of a job....Case mouths not always cut square. but it does trim cases for very cheap.
 
It's only really a problem if you go WAYYYY too short. So long as you still have enough neck to hold the bullet solidly, you'll be fine. As others have said, they'll grow soon enough anyways.
 
Even with the Lee trimmers my cases come out 10 thou undersized. I'm starting to wonder if it is a built in safety margin... In any case shoot and have fun.
