Over unders

$1200 should buy you a decent used Browning Citori field gun, a lightly used Citori trap gun if that is what you are looking for will likely be a little more as also will be some of the more elaborate Citoris. These would be my first choice in this price range, a Beretta will cost about $400-600 more for the same condition. There are a number of new Turkish made guns in this price range such as Churchill, CZ and Huglu that seem to have made a favourable initial impression but long term reliability is not yet established. It's also worth considering a used gun from Franchi, B Rizzini and several other lesser known Italian makers. If you are looking for an all round over/under for various clay target games as well as hunting a trap gun model will not be your best choice.

Looking to buy a decent over under for around 1200 what do you guys recomend

That's kind of a broad question, my first response would be what do you want to do with it? There are field guns, Skeet guns, Trap guns and Sporting Clays guns and some guns can over lap to other uses but not all of them will. Field guns and Sporting guns are similar with the Sporting guns being a bit heavier for doing a lot of shooting in a day instead of being carried in the field. They can also have things such as high ribs but both can double on the Skeet field or Trap field if necessary. Trap guns are usually more specifically designed for Trap only because they generally pattern a bit high for shooting rising targets and not all disciplines have rising targets. Also, trap guns designed for shooting dedicated single targets often only have one barrel which renders them useless for shooting doubles.
The next question is new or used? New guns can be had in the price range that you quote but as pointed out by another poster, they may not be of established quality. The other option is to get a used gun of a make that has a long reputation of good quality.
