overall best handgun(pistol)

^you can if you have smaller hands. I have avarage hands and P226 and 92FS fit me just fine, but USP just doesn't feel 'right' to me...

funny how nobody's even mentioned a revolver- well i'm going to- first starting out, a gp100, or if you want something bigger, the redhawk in 44 mag-you can tailor your loads from mild to wild, which is something you can do to only a limited degree with any automatic- if you HAVE to go automatic,go 1911 - one more thing- you don't have to POLICE YOUR BRASS with a revolver

I'm a SIG fan, any model.:) Some of the most accurate production pistols you can buy, ultra reliable, last you a lifetime-one of the mods has a 226 with over 100,000 rounds on it.
I have a 220 in 9mm and it's very accurate, never had a jam.

X2 On this one!
The most accurate, reliable, fun shooting pistol I have ever shot.
Thats why I bought one.

Skeeter Skelton (and a few others) have pointed out (way back in the dark ages before I really cared) that if he were restricted to a single hand-gun, he would keep his 5" S&W Model 27.

Skeeter Skelton was well known as being THE driving force behind the continued survival of the .44 S&W Special cartridge after the .44 Remington Magnum's debut.

Having accumulated a 5" Model 27 some years ago now I have to admit it is almost the perfect hand-gun.

Therefore it is my nomination for "best" handgun.

The 5" M. 27 ballances & points to perfection with it's light barrel.

Properly hand-loaded the .357 Magnum cartridge can take any threat in North America if neccesary.

Being the direct decendant of S&W's "Registered Magnum" (the first ever "magnum" revolver) it was S&W's top of the line gun (Yes children even after the Model 29 was introduced). In fact the Colt "Python" was actually introduced to give the (now so-called) "pre"-model 27 some high end competition.

Any revolver with a checkered top-strap & barrel rib just has to be high end!

Of course if I was heading out the door, I would probably take my .45 Colt 4-5/8" Ruger New Model converted to Bisley configuration....

Best "overall" - I'd have to say Glock.

Good balance between cost, finish/workmanship and design/technology. They are easily serviced in Canada and are super reliable to boot.
