Howdy,
I recently bought a Knight Wolverine 209 muzzleloader on clearance (50% off). I figured for the 2 days per year that deer is opened where I hunt, I could spare a 100$ for a muzzleloader.

Here's the gotcha: I didn't come with a box. So I have no tools, no manual and no DVD. I was able to locate the manual online. However, I would really like to have a copy of that DVD, since I don't really know anyone that could show me the ropes and I'm a visual learner.

Anyone has that DVD? From what I can understand from the manual, any Knight muzzleloader came with the same DVD.

PM me if you do and we'll work something out!

I bought my knight USAK new about 12 years ago and it came with a VHS tape. Trying to remember back, I don't think it came with any tools. Mine was new in a box.

It comes with two disassembly tools. I had a Disc, and it had the same firing mechanism. The first tool was about 1/4 inch thick, a C tool I think. It's been awhile but if I recall correctly you put it between the back of the reciever and the front of the firing pin screw and discharged to take the pressure off the firing mechanism to disassemble. Mine had an actual rifle style bolt but I think the Wolverine is the same as it still removes from the reciever. You then needed a special wrench to remove the breech. I cannot recall what that looked like other then it was long and fit in place of the bolt. I 'think' it was a hex head but I'm not sure. The breech removed with a standard left twist screw pitch. To re-install clean the threads and put a bit of lube on it.

Youtube can be a great resource if you need that visual assist for loading / shooting / cleaming as there are lots of self-proclaimed experts there. The nipple and breech plug can be removed with a common socket drive as the size isn't propietary ( I just can't remember the size off hand). Maybe someone will chime in.

Howdy guys!
Thanks for the suggestions. I have been viewing all the videos on CVA's website. They're biased towards CVA products obviously, but the ideas and principles are what's important to pick up.

I located a couple of accessories I'm going to need.

I also have a bunch of questions regarding the Knight Wolverine, hope you folks don't mind if I ask them in this thread:

- I tried fitting a 209 shot primer into the breech plug, and there's no way it's going to fit in there. So I then thought, maybe I'd just need to purchase another breech plug that will allow me to use 209 primers...but then I thought to myself: This isn't right. How can "Wolverine 209 muzzleloader" not access 209 primers when 209 is in the name of the freakin' rifle! I checked the manual and they do confirm that it should be using 209 pimers. So, I'm thinking I might be missing an adapter of some sort to allow me to put my primers in there:

Included In Package: Hex Head Combo Tool, DVD, Five Plug Screws, Red Hot Nipple #11 Cap 1/4 x
28, #11 Musket Breech Plugs, 5/32 Allen Wrench, Jag and Extension, Owners Manual, Non Red Plastic
Jacket conversion (Bighorn only)

Does this make sense? I'm a bit confused by the fact that it would normally come with #11 caps though...I'm a bit dissappointed that they sold me 209 primers with the rifle if it doesn't accept them.

- The manual specifies a couple of powders the rifle can use. I bought some pyrodex (as suggested by the salesman, although I'm not 100% confident in him anymore). It doesn't seem to specify that it is Pyrodex SELECT or RS on my box though. It's a box of Pyrodex Hodgnon (sp?) .50cal, 50 gr per vol (or whatever they call it) per pellet. Is this ok to use in my ML?

- Question after viewing the vids on CVA's site: Do you have to take special precautions when handling the pyrodex pellets? I saw on youtube a guy use a brass tool to pick up the pellets from the box. Is that needed? Seems smart to have something to do it: Wouldn't want the entire box to explode on you...

- Final question: CVA was pushing a lot the powerbelt bullets. They seem good, but I'm guessing there are drawbacks to using them. Anyways, they are not listed in my manual (they only list Knight bullets obviously): That doesn't mean I can't use them, right? I just don't have a table of powder/bullets to cross-reference...I'll have to experiment to see how they fly.

Cheers!

Your rifle may require the red disc 'extreme' that holds the 209.

I think you might of nailed it! Is that red disc a way to waterproof the ignition system? I don't quite understand what you'd want to bother with a small piece that one could loose easily. By the way, I just did a quick check online: I see they come in packs of 100...so I gather they are not reusable. Is this correct??

If anyone could answer my other questions, that would really be awesome!

Cheers,

I think you can re-use them but they were made to be disposable. If you search around you can still find both the orange and red disc's. I would suggest to you talking to a machine shop and see if they can build you a few out of metal that you can just re-use permanently.

Hi guys, been doing a bit more reading...

I was wondering if anyone has been able to locate the new breech plug that will allow Wolverine 209 users to use bare 209 primers (SKU: M900045)?

Also, still hoping someone will be able to answer my previous answers.

Cheers!
