Any owners of one of these fine rifles here?

Many of these are bespoke, handcrafted options that command a price point that most of us can only dream of, however these bolt action (magazine rifles) are generally the more affordable choice compared to the double rifles of the same company.

Most typically had in dangerous game cartridges for The Big 5 in Africa but a few provide 7mm and 30al offerings as well.

Of the ones you've owned or held, which did you prefer? What are are your impressions on the build quality, craftsmanship and accuracy?

I recently ordered one of my dream rifles, a Rigby Big Game in 416 Rigby which I fully intend to hunt with in the field.

I can see myself adding others like this to my collection down the road (once the credit card recovers).

WOW

Congrats Northern! It ain't every day that someone orders a "bucket list" gun! Enjoy!

Now, I better not ask you what you get for that kinda money :p Hear its as offensive as asking a woman her weight.

The Rigby I was looking at had very plain wood and wasn't appealing to me so i decided to go the Mauser route.

Stunning rifle and very well made but the reality is we are paying for the name which is just fine. As long as your happy and enjoy it by all means!

Sweet!! We live only once! Congrats! I can’t help with the question, but there was some one on the EE selling a Rigby highland stalker not that long ago, I tried to find it but couldn’t, I thought it was Buckmastr for some reasons but might be some one else…
I’m getting a dream gun too, a Bradshaw rotary action single shot with two barrel….

That's an awesome looking rifle, which caliber did you go with?

About three weeks ago I purchased a new Merkel Model 141 SXS double rifle, chambered in the 9.3x74R. This is my second double rifle, the first was a Blaser S2, chambered in the same cartridge. Workmanship is supurb and tolerances is very very tight. Wood, metal and finish is excellent. Hand engraving is very detailed of game scenes. I have a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 which will be mounted on it before I head out to the range again. I only fired 6 rounds out of it for testing, I had other rifles I wanted to shoot for long distance grouping (300 yards). I could not find any concerns with the rifle, better not, especially for a five figure price tag. I only wish to hunt North American game with this rifle, which I'll be using for bull moose this autumn.

What did you go for?

Double or single square bridge?

I spent a day in the Westley Richards factory a few years back. It is incredible to see hand built rifles in our modern world. Finest tradesmen under one roof. When it comes to bolt action rifles they do however purchase the actions. In some cases actions from Mayfair Engineering, I spent a day at this company a few years back as well. These Mauser actions seemed very well made and I would prefer them over older models. There are rumours that in the past some Mauser actions were cut through, extended and welded back together again as magnum actions.
