I've tried everything... including WD-40, depressing the catch and using a screwdriver to pry it out, and I've tried taking out the pin... no luck and the Winchester P-14 Mag + follower + triggerguard looks different from the Eddystone ones... so much for standardized manufacturing... :(

Images of the possessed Winchester floorplate!

whimper... help?

Ok, I've removed the floorplate catch release... and the darn thing still wont come off. I think someone glued the floorplate to the triggerguard!

Maybe soak in acetone overnight or something like that!!

It is possible that the front end where the engagement is made was whached at sometime in the last 85 or 90 years, peining the florplate to the bottom metal, or it was "intalled" with a hammer!

Support the bottom metal from inside, as close to the front as possible. Place a punch on top of the floorplate, just behind the point where the piece that slides into the inside of the bottom metal is attached. Give it ONE sharp rap with a hammer. Repeated pounding will surely destroy it, but one judicious whack may well open things up enough to restore sliding fit.

Good luck.
