Hello everyone I want to build A P-1917 target rifle with open sights. I was wondering what kind on sights should I put on this rifle? I know the DCRA used target sights but was there even A DACA type I guess it would be CMP target rifle made from P-17'S? I am going to be building this on A Winchester 30-06 rifle. If you have some insite let me know !!

Parker Hale 5B for the rear, and you can use a St Marie (K31) clamp on front sight which takes standard anschutz inserts.

Buy a Parker hale 5B, The St Marie (K31) front sight is way to high and out of adjustment for the P-17. The PH 5B is calibrated to work for the 303 or 30-06. You will use half of you elevation to get zero'd in.

An Australian Central sight is lighter weight and likely less expensive. They are 1/3 min clicks, vs 1/4 or 1/2. There are better sight bases than a Swiss one. But the obvious question is, why bother making an uncompetitive target rifle? There is no class for magazine-fed bolt actions. Only true target rifles and a minor class for TR optical.

Parker hale made a target swivel for the front trigger guard screw. It looks similar to the one on the Lee Enfield.

Central sights are good and work very well. You need the base plate for the M1917, the sight can be sued on other rifles with the appropriate base plate. The Parker hale 5B will run around $150 - $300 for a good one.
