P&D ent. has new Wilson Arms 1911's in!!

Okay I'm guessing Sti builds wilson's slides and frames. Sow what?

I still stand by my statement that the fit and finish of the one I handled at P&D is better than the two Trojans I've played with. Just me prehaps.
Neither Wilson nor STI (nor Kimber, Springfield or even Colt for that matter) make their own slides and frames. I know that S&W used to be a big supplier of 1911 frames and slides before they started making complete guns themselves. Not sure who's filling the niche these days.

On the resale of a Wilson. There is no resale value on something....you will never sell !!!!!!!
P & D is THE importer for Wilson into Canada, I'm not sure if Questar could even get one for you.
Scott

I know as a matter of fact that a CGN just imported a CARRY COMP from questar and paid less then he would have from P&D but not much (maybe 200$) . I d rather buy from P&D in case theres any problem and id save myself the wait of paperwork and customs ....

I can't speak for other manufacturers but if you are going to make the statement that Kimber doesn't make it's own slides and frames you need to support it with some evidence. Kimber maintains that it does make those parts and it is also the opinion of a lot of Kimber owners who have had direct dealings with the company.

Anyone can tell me the difference between the CQB compact and the Tactical supergrade compact ?? What makes it 1500$ more ?? Any input on me getting the CQB compact ?

Kimber does the final machining but it does not produce its own forgings. Very few manufacturers these days possess the bulky and extremely expensive equipment that is used for the drop forging process.

Here's a quote from the American Handgunner:

Actually S&W has something of a history with 1911s for they have been one of the suppliers for the forgings Kimber uses to make their guns. It has been erroneously stated in the past that S&W made the guns for Kimber. That is not true. But I can't help but think the quantities of parts S&W sold them was not a factor in S&W's judgment of the market potential.

Im sure that those Wilsons are nice guns, but at the end of the day, thats alot of money to pay for what in reality is a production gun.I would rather get Dlask to build me a custom gun.

You pay plenty for the name when you get a Wilson

Problem with Dlask is that they wont even answer my email . I asked them to make me a custom 1911 in 9mm , commander size and they never even answered . And im not the only one so screw them .... I wont have to wait at least for the Wilson . Been waiting 6 months for a Springfield , 2 months for a Tavor . I need something to shoot !!! Got a Colt while waiting but that was a waste of $$$ . Im a believer of "buy cheap , buy twice"

Wasnt it Caspian making the frames.Bill Wilson jumped through some legal hoops to get a variance to put his name on the slides? Caspian also suppies
the frames for Night hawk which is run by some of the Wilson folks who
ventured out on their own.Night Hawk now makes the Steve Vickers 1911
on a Caspian frames that Mr.Vickers was instamental in designing the frame with a build in mag well.Last I heard the only guys out there producing their
own frames &slides are Dawson and Les Baer.

Just a quick note, its not Steve, it is Larry Vickers. Larry spec'd the Caspian frame and slide for his Vickers Tactical model, he has been using Caspian for some of his builds in the past, including building guns for his team (Delta Force). He has seen more 45ACP go down range than anyone else on the planet, most of that under hard use conditions when he was with Delta Force. If Larry says the the cast frames from Caspian are good to go, you can bet your life on it.

Thanks Scully, Brain fart on my part.I had E-mailed him a few weeks ago.
I'm pretty sure I didnt call Steve in the correspondance. That would have
been a major Faux pas.

I hear you. Why bother trying to have a compact when you still have a longer barrel and it's ugly as sin?
