P-mags ?

Okay so I'm a little new to this type of shooting, having just bought a tavor in January. But what is the deal with P-Mags? Are they really worth all the commotion when they are just a 5 rounder? I'm not commenting on the current value of them or the prices they raise, I'm just genuinely asking if they are that awesome ? What makes them better than say, a LAR mag? Or is it just looks? I'd appreciate someone schooling me on this.
 
Pmags are considered to be very reliable… the whole 5 round 10 round thing is a Canada specific issue… so basically a LAR mag only has an advantage in Canada in being that it has 10 rounds…
 
Or you can go really crazy and get the Beowulf mags...then you can shoot even more rounds legally (hence the reason they're so pricey on the EE now).

I get that, but it seems that panic buying/ panic selling of P-MAGS is evident in Canada too and I was wondering what made them so awesome here, if they are only limited to 5. I'm not at all against trying them if I can understand why they are so good. What makes a P- mag owner pick up and load one instead of a regular or LAR mag when he is out shooting?

Honestly, I only use Pmags, although I do own LAR mags, and really it is just personal preference for me. I don’t feel I must have as many rounds as possible. I guess I get to practice mag changes twice as often, they are easier to handle especially with some types of mag holders. I know they are pretty much at the top of the reliability and durability chain. Sometimes, in competition you are limited to 5 rounds anyways, so I have heard. If zombies ever come or laws change (I expect the former before the later :p lol) you will have normal capacity mags. And, well they look cooler… I wouldn’t say the reliability and durability is so much better than other mags that it discounts using anything else, so whatever floats your boat…

Edit: Also, I think the panic buying/selling is partly do to the "I want what I can't have" factor
 
I've got a big pile of .50 Beowulf mags. They're good mags, but really, when it comes down to it, they're aluminum USGI mags. In all honesty, P-Mags are more durable. That said, I've totaled more P-mags than any other kind, but that's probably just because they were all I've been running for a while until these .50 Beowulf mags showed up. What I'd really like is to get my hands on some steel Beowulf mags. That'd be basically as good as it'll ever get in Canada until the feds rid us of the dumb mag limit law. Strong, durable, and loaded to 15 rds of 5.56mm.

They do look cooler. Lol thank you for a decent explanation. If they were normal capacity I'd definitely try some out. I'm not sold on them yet but I'm warming up to the idea. It just sucks spending $200 bucks to have 25 rounds when it should only cost $40( give or take). Maybe if I come across a deal ill test some out.
 
I'm just wondering, for the .50 Beowulf mags, are they actually any different from 5.56 mags other than the markings? 'cause if they're not that would make them pretty much a Canada only thing, which would explain why they're so hard to come buy despite significant demand and incentive to bring in moar.

Has anyone actually got RCMP clarification that these ARE legal. Especially because the way I understand the rules. The mag body is what's controlled and they are basically a standard ar mag with the lips opened up a little.. I know one of my buddies emailed them as he was considering buying some of EE but didn't want to get burned. I last spoke to him Thursday and he said he had no response.
