The feed lips are slightly enlarged compared to USGI mags. I can't cycle .50 Beo through comparable aluminum USGI mags, the brass catches on the front of the mag. That said, I know some people can cycle .50 Beo through other 5.56mm mags, so YMMV. But, to answer the second part of your question, yep, they're pretty much a huge demand in Canada and a minor demand everywhere else. Of course, even a minor demand in the US translates into more demand than all of Canada wanting them.
Why would you want anymore clarification on them? They're made, designed and intended for use in the .50 Beowulf AR15 upper. Not to mention, CBSA has acknowledged that they're .50 Beo mags by allowing them in, and they don't do anything without DFAIT's approval, who in turn doesn't do anything without written correspondence from the RCMP. The system is bloated and complicated, but it's working.

Probably because of the EOTWAWKI or zombie apocalypse bunch that figure when the SHTF they will just unpin the mags and have 30 rounds to shoot the zombies. Many of this bunch will waste more ammo than get good hits. The spray and pray mentality it is. Practice calm proper shots and target transitions with 5 or 10 rounds and you will not really care.
I have 2 Pmags (came with the AR) and picked up some LAR-15 mags for the 10 round benefits. The P-mags basically make the gun look nicer than a little 10 round nub in the magwell.
That is my 2/5 of a nickle.

PMAGs also handle nicely in your hand while doing mag changes for competitions and such.
This pretty mush sums up my feelings about it and why it doesn't entirely bother me to use 5 round mags... but, I have to say there is no way I would buy a pmag at the current price point, sell one maybe...
I feel bad I payed $13.00 each for my GEN1's before this hole thing started. That said I love them and wouldn't trade them for anything. Easy to load and unload from the rifle (AR). You can manipulate them with one hand easily without issues.
im pretty sure someone on cgn debunked the myth that pmags wear out the bolt catch on tavor.

At Pickering Ontario show today one vender had some priced at $50 each.
Idiots can charge whatever they want, theyre only hurting themselves when others pick up the same mentality and start gouging on their "rare" stuff. Theyre only hurting other Canadian shooters so they get no business or respect from me. Like vultures. Anyways, order your Pmags through Questar. I hear they get regular shipments and they don't charge over double the price of new. Just the reasonable $20 each.

I have no problem with someone raising their prices to meet market trends. If you were offered another 5 bucks an hour at work would you turn it down because you would be "gouging " your boss? They can charge whatever they want, nobody is being forced to pay these prices. If they don't like it, they don't have to buy it.

That being said, I just bought some pmags. They should be at the post office awaiting pick up. I didn't pay $50 bucks a piece but the price was comparable to current market prices. I'll update after testing them out to see how they do and if they are worth the hype.
The thing I've found with P-mags is that I haven't had any stoppages when running them in my AR15, I've had issues with other assorted mags but never the P-mags. I'll admit that my other mags where an assorted collection in assorted conditions so that could be the issue. Any new mags might have had the same effect for me.
You must've got some of the properly pinned mags then. Many of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pmags I've had were pinned right to 5 rounds. Made loading on a closed bolt difficult and too much of a PITA for use in competitions.

I figure I'd repost on here after almost a years worth of experience with p mags and lay down some knowledge on my past self. And anyone else curious about p mags.
I have gen 2 PMAGS, gen 3 PMAGS, LAR mags, and one factory metal 5/30 mag. The PMAGS win on looks and they win on feel. They conform well to the hand. The material allows for good traction when gripping, even when wet. They win on durability as well. I've had issues with all my mags except my new gen 3's over the last year. The PMAGS started to FTF on day 2 of a very rainy training course but have not given issue since. All the metal mags I own gave issue during the course and multiple times since. The feed lips get bent slightly over time after getting dropped, kicked, and drop kicked during the course of a few shooting seasons.
The PMAGS did lose out on speed reloads and administrative reloads. They were sticky in my mag well for the former and for the latter, they are pinned right at 5 so loading a full mag on a closed bolt won't happen.
Then new gen 3 PMAGS DO drop free in my tavor but are still pinned right at 5. Oh well, that's not the mags fault, it's our stupid laws fault.
So in closing, after a years worth of testing I can say that PMAGS are the way to go. Especially since my new mags were half of my first mags cost per.
