P08 Luger ballpark price?

Just looking for some help with getting an idea on this for insurance purposes.

1939 Manufacture, "42" coded - Mauser & Werke manufactured. All parts coded with last two digits of the s/n. 4 digit s/n, W series. Military acceptance marks. Has two s/n matching magazines, one with the proper "+" marking. Has a 1936 dated holster in reasonably good shape with takedown tool.

Gun has some holster wear at muzzle, and on inspection plate on left side of gun.

I know it's value in Canada may be somewhat limited due to prohib status, but I have no plans on ever selling it, but would like to insure it properly.

I paid mine for 1150$ with the holster, 2 mag and the Luger in very good condition. Give Kidvett a try and ask him the question. It's a specialist of the Luger.

I thought Hitler ordered the cessation of all Luger production in 1940. A 1942 Luger would have taken away from P38 production, a pistol that is much easier to manufacture.
I'm not an expert but a Luger made in '42 is.....Perhaps you can post a picture showing the marks that prove the date is '42.

First of all he clearly stated it was manufactured in 1939. The 42 is a manufacturer's mark. Regardless, Luger's were made part way into 1942.

Very hard to put a value on it as the collector's market for Luger's is extremely mature. 2 matching mags add to the value. I beleive the "+" symbol signifies that this mag is the spare or back up mag. All matching also increases the value. Holsters themselves can command $2-300.

As for value $1150 doesn't sound far off. Possibly more. For insurance valuation, much higher than that. All it takes is a rare marking etc and the value begins to climb. In the US it would go for a lot more based on what you have mentioned. As stated Kidvett can help and I believe there are a few others that could aslo provide more background.
