P1 Alloy frame

Got another question for you in regards to the Walther P38 and P1.

Is the post war alloy frame actually that big of a problem????

I want something that is 9mm and has some history to it. All of the walthers I have encountered for under $500 are alloy frames, and other than these cryptic warnings, look like a great buy. If I were to buy a later production P1 with the hex pin and wider slide would this rectify the problem?

No problem with mine so far and yes is the one with hex pin on the frame, very accurate guns and I have used everything available in the market on it including some reloads.
Useless to say though that was made as a side weapon so I find it very difficult to have other use for it like IPSC or IDPA you can"t shoot this one both handed because of the slide relese and reloading is a pain .

The slides will always break before the frame in either steel or alloy.

I've owned a P1 for some years. No hex pin; that was introduced in the P4. I've shot it a fair amount, but never used heavy bullets or +P cartridges. No problems. But the design of those guns is for occasional shooting, and not for something like IPSC practice. If you shoot it a lot, I'm sure something will break eventually.
