P14 doesn't like igman ammo - why??

Hey that would be great if you could do a tutorial. So if prepared properly, Igman is decent brass eh? One question about the drilling of the flash holes though, does that change the way the powder ignites? When drilling the flash hole out, how do you drill just the case and not the primer right through? If you drilled it right through the primer the decapping pin would not work, correct? I was just thinking I could set up a jig for my drill press with a case holder and make sure to set the press so it does not drill right though. I will definately think about picking some up Igman. Hopefully Districorp has some 7.62x54r in stock now.

Thanks,
Logan

I don't want to further hijack this thread since I have reloaded rimless Igman brass only :p

I will soon put together a thread for the Igman reloaders, keep an eye out for it.

To answer your questions:

1) I drill the 5/64 which is roughly the same size flash hole as my Winchester brass. Any larger would change the ignition as you state and would probably lead to higher pressures. I drill it to fit the decapper.

2) I drill the flash hole until I feel I have gone through the brass and into the primer. I don't drill right through the primer that way my standard decapping method works after. I am too poor to own a drill press so I do it with a hand held drill ;)

Igman factory ammunition is very in-accurate and inconsistent.
Recommend you buy this ammo merely for the brass
Thats all its really good for.

My 174gr handloads are way better. Also I'd say the brass is very stiff.
