Ok guys here are the photos of the rebuild
This is the stock set up in my (extra set of hands) tray.
Here are several photos of the stock.
As can be seen in the third photo, there was an arsenal repair at one point; maybe at the same time the front volley sights were removed.
These are the parts layed out ready to be put together.
The first step was the attachment of the buttplate; while the finish on this one is not the best the trapdoor assembly is in perfect shape.
Next was the insertion of the action into the stock with the handguard retaining ring in place.
Followed by the insertion of the magazine box, and the attachment of the triggerguard(minus the bottom plate), thus cinching the action into the stock.
The rear handgaurd was the next part to be put on.
After that the sling-swivel/barrel band and the front handguard were put on.
Then the nose-cap (gotta love that bayonet lug
)
The front sight assembly was put on next.
Which was then pinned in place.
Here's a wide angle shot of the front end.
Next up was the mag follower, spring and the reattachment of the bottom plate. As can be seen in place in the photo.
The bolt was then inserted to complete the build.
I have run it through a few function tests and it seems to work fine. I still want to check the headspace, but other than that it appears to be ready.
I don't think the headspace will be a problem, I was lucky enough to get a matching barreled action with matching bolt, but it pays to be safe.
Alot of reading from these two books was done.
And these tools were used.
Alot of help and advice was given by members here, rgg_7 and louthepou especially.
I am still on the lookout for two rear sling swivel screws(which I somehow managed to forget to pickup
). If anyone has a pair of them lying around please drop me a line.
