Hi,just to let you know Marstar has some p14 stocks avialable ,45 dollars a piece. The price is right dont know what the condition of the stocks are .They list as fair to good .Did anyone get on of these

They certainly didn't over estimate their condition. Condition is exactly as described. FAIR to GOOD. They show lots of hard use. None of them are gems by any means but if you have a well worn barreled action these will go well with it. Now all you have to do is find bands and swivels, not ot mention screws to mount them.

$45??

Don't mind if I do!

Just watch this turn into that $800 Webley MKI fiasco a few months ago where only one unit was in stock...

frost cracked, when you place a P14 mag well beside a P17 mag well they are the same length. The difference is made up with the slanted front and rear spacers on the P14. The followers are a bit different but all of the other parts are interchangeable. Lots of people get confused by this. Those stocks from Marstar are marked down to $45 for a very good reason. John and the folks working there are selling them for a very reasonable price and it looks like they have already been degreased.

There will be a lot of work needed to make them acceptable for use IMHO. Be prepared for a relatively lengthy project which will include steaming out dents, filling and gluing holes, cracks and maybe replacing broken off bits with close to matching colored walnut. Then when you are satisfied with its appearance it will need to be stained so that all parts match in color and maybe if you are really lucky some of the cartouches on the stock may still be visible. Marstar is actually making its money on the upper hand guards, which I suspect a buyer of the lower stock will need as well.

Fair to Good is the next grade up from SCRAP. Likely with lots of elbow grease, time and patience, then more time and patience as well as some real zeal to make it right you MIGHT end up with a serviceable stock.

One thing, it will be a great learning curve. If that's what you're looking for, purchase the stock and upper hand guards but ask them to try to match colors.

I have started and completed a few such projects and can tell you it is a labor of love and a lot of persistence. The nice thing about the P14/17 rifles is that most of the parts are relatively easy but often expensive to acquire. Right now it looks like the Yanks are in a frenzy to refurb a lot of sporters back to military configuration. Of course, they prefer the P17 rifles and the mag wells/followers are becoming difficult to find. Most of the major suppliers are out of them.

Received mine and have the actions installed to check for fit,the stocks are nice and straight ,they show their age but look the part as they are 100 plus year old rifles.these are two very nice actions that i have had for a long time they were both sporters and are now finally going back to as near original as possible. One is a rem the other a winchester which will make up the set of 3 rifles for my collection The ERA,REminginton and the Winchester,Still need a few parts to complete hand guard ,front band screws and mid band and rear sling swivel.Couple of pics of the stocks with the actions installed[URL=http://s991.photobucket.com/user/rbolt709/media/DSC02234_zps3t6bv32z.jpg.html]
