frost cracked, when you place a P14 mag well beside a P17 mag well they are the same length. The difference is made up with the slanted front and rear spacers on the P14. The followers are a bit different but all of the other parts are interchangeable. Lots of people get confused by this. Those stocks from Marstar are marked down to $45 for a very good reason. John and the folks working there are selling them for a very reasonable price and it looks like they have already been degreased.
There will be a lot of work needed to make them acceptable for use IMHO. Be prepared for a relatively lengthy project which will include steaming out dents, filling and gluing holes, cracks and maybe replacing broken off bits with close to matching colored walnut. Then when you are satisfied with its appearance it will need to be stained so that all parts match in color and maybe if you are really lucky some of the cartouches on the stock may still be visible. Marstar is actually making its money on the upper hand guards, which I suspect a buyer of the lower stock will need as well.
Fair to Good is the next grade up from SCRAP. Likely with lots of elbow grease, time and patience, then more time and patience as well as some real zeal to make it right you MIGHT end up with a serviceable stock.
One thing, it will be a great learning curve. If that's what you're looking for, purchase the stock and upper hand guards but ask them to try to match colors.
I have started and completed a few such projects and can tell you it is a labor of love and a lot of persistence. The nice thing about the P14/17 rifles is that most of the parts are relatively easy but often expensive to acquire. Right now it looks like the Yanks are in a frenzy to refurb a lot of sporters back to military configuration. Of course, they prefer the P17 rifles and the mag wells/followers are becoming difficult to find. Most of the major suppliers are out of them.
