I just bought a nice P14 from a fellow gun nutz .The action and barrel looks good, nothing removed or holes drilled -but the stock is sporterized.I see boyds has stocks-both military and sporter.Since I don't have the furniture, I'll probably go with the laminated stock.But-the trigger is not the greatest-what is a viable replacement?
I'm not planning on doing anything more-if somebody down the road, including me, decides to ''de sporterize ''it-all it will require is a military stock and the furniture, but in the meantime, I'd like to make a shooter out of it,its pretty heavy but I understand they have a reputation for excellent accuracy

So, what's the question? It you want to rebuild the rifle to arsenal standard, you'll need to replace the missing or worn parts. Gun Parts Corp (Numrich) lists them for sale. There are no shortages even though they haven't been made since WWI - the contracts left millions of parts leftover after the Armistace.

Does Numrich charge extra to ship to canada (aside from the postage)? I thought I heard that they charge a service fee on forgien orders.

Numrich does charge an extra $25 for "export fees". Mind you if you find what you need there, and you get enough stuff, then the $25 isn't that terrible.

I do have a few odds and ends for a P14 refurb job, if that's the way you go feel free to PM me.

The P14 is a great rifle, don't let the fact that it's not as glamorous as other milsurps fool you :)

I see that-is it a good one and do you have to have a gunsmith install it or can it be done yourself ?

Do you have a hammer and some drift pins? Probably all you need to replace the trigger parts. Test before disassembly, note the movements and pressures. Disassemble and inspect for wear and damage. Replace those parts from the little collection of parts you've bought. Test after assembly, note the movements and pressures. If the changes are an improvement, then keep testing. The bolt and striker have to stay where they are put, and fire when the trigger is pulled. Gunsmithing is not like running a nuclear reactor or fixing space shuttle external fuel tanks.
