I see Lever arms has a P220 in 9mm. Does any one know anything about these guns, are they conveted from 38 super or were they originally made in 9mm, can they be easily conveted to 45 with just a barrrel? Also is $895 a good price?

Back in the day they came out in 38super.

A guy at the range I go to has one. The mags have a shim in the back so it accepts 9mm rounds. The gun worked fine and all, but IMHO if you want a 9mm Sig a refurbished 226 would probably be the way to go. Oh yeah, if you get a Sig get the hogue finger grips :D

i have one and it's fantastic. I like the 220 as opposed to the 226 because the single stack mag makes the grip thinner and IMO nicer. That being said, it's not a good gun for ipsc because the mags only hold 9 rounds.

Someone can correct me if i'm wrong but i think to turn it into a .45 you need a new slide, barrel and mags and as mentioned before, these were originally barreled in .38 super. I'd love to get a .38 supre barrel for mine, but have yet to see one for sale anywhere.

All in all it's a good deal for the money. I actually got mine slightly used from these boards for about 650, which IMO is a GREAT deal for a genuine Sig.

I have one that I bought used here on CGN. The original buyer had bought it from Lever. It is a refurb that was converted from .38 super. On the magazines, it does show both .38 super and 9mm stamped on the bottom of the base plate. I've bought some 38 super magazines from Numrich and they work fine. Great pistol. I prefer the 220 over the the 226 for the same reasons mentioned by other posters here. It fits my hand better. Can't really speak for the price. I don't think Sig offers new 220's in 9mm as I've only seen new 220's offered in .45. With that said, I've seen new 220R's in .45 for around 1095.00 and 220ST's for around 1295.00. I also have a 220 in .45 but it is a European model with the heel magazine release and haven't tried swapping the slides to see if I can convert the 9mm.

The P220 is a great gun...I had one in .45, sold it and bought a
P226 for the "extra capacity" (2 rounds, big deal) and I realize that the P220 was a much better fit for me.

This story has a happy ending though, as I found a P225 (prohib.) that is the single stack 9mm. I absolutely LOVE this gun.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed with a P220, they are a fantastic design...and it's a SIG.

tse used to sell them for around $500 I like the grip of the 220 allot better than the 226.

Those were the reconditioned ex-swiss police P220's with the heel mag release, still a good deal.

Sorry to butt in, but Lever does not list these as refurbs, so are they new .38supers converted to 9mm?
I want one too!
Yes they are brand new. Originally manufactured in .38 super for some countries police force, the contract was cancelled and SIG was stuck with them. They figured 9mm would sell better so the modded the mags and stuck a new barrel in. That's the story anyway. Mine is 1995 manufacture and was brand new. I purchased it about 4 years ago when they were $695 NIB.
