On the fence, need some input! What are some of the noticeable differences (caliber aside)? Size difference? Shape? Weight? Length? Done some research, but want to know what the first hand CGNners think... thanks!:)

btw, I've owned a p226 and loved it in pretty much every way, but can't get away from the feeling that I need a fresh .45... so talk me out of it! (or not) :D

You can or could get a 220 in 9mm. Im not sure why but comparing both in 9mm the 220 seems to be abit better balanced. I have a 226 and like it though.

x2 SIGs are great guns !!!
I have only the full stainless models and they are very well ballanced even being a little havier then the alloy frame models
P 220 has slimmer frame and better for small hands being a single stack, but P 226 (double stack, high cap mags) could be slim too with the right pair of grips
IMO... I'll vote for P226 SS any time !

If you can find a 220st you will love it. It has just enough weight to help with the .45 recoil and is extremely accurate. I could shoot mine all day and never get tired of it.
Of course if you have already had a 226 why not try the 229?

is the 229 a smaller frame? otherwise i don't think the difference of .3" barrel length will make much difference. if smaller frame than most definately change feel

I had both! :)

got a 226st traded it for 220st because I already had 2 other 9mm and wanted a .45, than sold it when I got a 1911...

I think I liked 226 more, the grip just fit me better....226 is also a little heavier IIRC

will the barrel protrude out of the 229 due to the Canadian laws?

I love the collection Ghostie but where is the 226??

Yah, not sure why I never got one. I have two of the 229s and a Norinco "228" as well. Shot lots of other peoples 226's. Really like them. For some reason I just haven't bought my own.

I was thinking about getting a X-Five tactical for awhile, but now I seem to be mostly shooting GLOCK 19 and spending all my money on long guns. I'll get the 226 bug at some point. You watch the EE long enough and eventually something comes up that you just can't resist.

thanks for the input fellas, ended up going with the struggling pimps 226... platinum elite! lol

Very nice.:D

I wanted that one.....but didn't want to wait weeks for stock, so I just got the plain 226 Elite.
It is a Fantastic Pistol. Never had one single jam or anything go wrong.

I might have to go and look at a few 220's now myself:rockOn:
