Good afternoon all (or morning),

I recently purchased a P226 9mm and love it. It feels great and flows - hard to explain.

For practice purposes, I was wondering if there is a good P226 airsoft version, just so I can get in more time at home with the gun. I doubt there is a good airsoft version that has a similar trigger feel, but thought I'd ask the people who might know :)

Thanks!

What exacualy are you trying to practice with it? Even if you found one with a similer triggger im sure the weight will be different and reacoil for sure haha. Accuracy will be quite different too I would imagine. cant really see how it would help. I would just buy a bunch of dummy rounds and use your real one for reload and drawing practice.

Unless the barrel is rifled, and it's not, the point of impact will vary from shot to shot even over a small distance by enough that practice with airsoft or even round bb's shot from a plain bore is a waste of time. The groups will spread so much that you won't learn anything worthwhile.

I know because I went through this with a Walther PPK BB pistol. I can't have the real thing so when I tripped over a very nice all metal CO2 BB version for a song I bought it. But the accuracy from the BB's only gives me a 3 inch group at around 10 FEET! So after using up the first 3 or 4 CO2 cartridges I simply never bothered to load it up again. Instead I just pull it out and pretend it's a real one and make "PTEW, PTEW" sounds as I gointo a Walter Mitty moment and pretend that I'm James Bond fighting off a hoard of bad guys. Then I sigh at our silly laws and put it away again for another few months to a year until I trip over it again.

Thanks! Do you know if the trigger reset is similar to the 9mm?

Mostly just transition from primary to secondary... things like that. Would love to find an airsoft fun with same trigger reset.

You can legally practice in your home with real firearms, to reduce wear on your firing pin just use snap caps or other dummy training rounds.

I use safety training inert ammunition for practicing mag changes, stoppages/ect without any risk of discharges.

If you want to watch where your muzzle directs when you fire, get a laser bore sighting device and insert it into the muzzle or chamber an work on keeping still and finding the sweet spot on your trigger where you have the least movement.

Hope that information is useful to you.

DERPPP, Myles beat me to it as I was watching tv as I replied.

No airsoft can replace the feel of a real steel counterpart, if your purpose is to get more used to your gun you might as well buy a few snapcaps an dpracticed with that. Airsoft is fun to play and practice basic movement or fundamentals but thats it even the most powerfull modded airsoft is nowhere close to their real steel counterpart in terms of recoil and trigger feel (airsoft is always lighter) the closest a heavilly modified airsoft gas guns will get when compared to teh RS counterparts is maybe to a .22lr platform

I like the idea of mounting a laser light and just taking note of where it sits on a target.

It also avoids the need to clean up all the airsoft pellets or making pellet traps that take up a bunch of room.

I know that there are some very good and very accurate airsoft replicas. But they cost a pretty penny to have that closer similarity so from what I've read we don't see them over here. I gather from reading about these very close copies that they are popular in Japan and a few other countries where handguns are tightly controlled.

I got a Metal 1911 BB version that's 1:1 ( Grip, Weight, Feel, Controls, Sights ) as my 9mm. Minus the blowback a just about 22LR. Trigger break on it, its closer to my Tuned 1911, Then my stock. I use it for more holster drills. Because I get a idea of POA/POI.

It strips down almost to a T as a real steel. Only thing is Mag changes are slower do to seals it creates with the mag.

Hang a Sig cpl-rm laser on the rail, use Tipton snap caps. You'll be able to see what your doing wrong when pulling the trigger, probably save you lots of quid in ammo.

you could get them here, in HK there are clubs thats based on IPSC and running high end/highly modified airsoft gas guns. In Canada due to the high cost of these highly modifed airsoft have made the sport a bit out of reach for some and also the lack of space and guidance pretty much killed it. FYI some of these highend airsoft gas guns that mimicks IPSC open race guns can cost as much if not more than the real thing.

Yea the accuracy is different. But the feel the same I notice, I only can speak from my experience training with the 1911. Best I could do with it locked down. was 2" @ 10 Y But I notice on mine you get some idea with shot placement. About 300rds in mine I chewed the barrel bushing out so merely a fun toy now.

These things work pretty darn good..... when they work. They get a little fickle when the batteries get low.

I have the two you listed and the knock down cans. I wish they made a 22cal version.

My pistol marksmanship has improved by using them. Gives me some trigger time in the winter when using the range is out of the question.

Lots of hardcore IPSC guys use airsoft pistols to train at home with scaled down targets and steel. Several of the 226 airsofts I tried were very good, some are the same weight or heavier, and the mags and controls are identical. As for duarability you usually get what you pay for.
