Anyone run into this issue? I have a new X5 all round, and one of the mags causes the gun to hold open with one round remaining. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You already figured out what the issue is....that one mag. It may be bent, or loose, out of spec, whatever.... Take the slide off, put a snap cap in the mag and insert it into the frame....see if you can tweak the left side of the mag lip so that the round is not engaging the slide stop.

I'm thinking about trying IPSC, never done any competitive shooting yet. I'll have to get my black badge training first I guess. They are an accurate gun.

I just pre-ordered one with the plan of getting trained up and starting IPSC production. Any one know if the SRT trigger that you can get with it still production legal?

I currently have 7 hi-cap MECGAR- made factory SIG mags. No issue whatsoever, have seen abuse on multiple IPSC matches.
Also have 3 checkmate mags (+ 2 more that came in a pistol I haven't tried yet). No issue with them during matches yet, but the last round is a ##### to load. I normally used them only once since they are loaded before the match and don't feel like having sore thumbs when shooting (I know, I need a speedloader...)No stoppages with any of the mags, but I do clean the checkmate frequently. I just ordered 3 Mecgars stainless from marstar and will soon sell the checkmates. For me it's a question of trust and I don't want to loose a precious 2-3 seconds if a mag fails during a match.

I know, I need a speedloader

A bit off topic, but I thought I should mention: although I've been very happy with my Maglula UpLULA when using it with my Glock 21, it hasn't been as good with my P226. Occasionally a round will go sideways or even backwards. Don't get me wrong, it is still useful. It's just not perfect. It could also be user error.

Any update on this thread? I just bought 2 mags and they have the exact same issue. I did find the spring has 13 coils over the 12 coils my others have but I haven't tried tweaking the feed lips yet.

Ok, got off me @rse and had a look at the two mags this AM. I tweaked the front of the feed lips in just a hair with my Gerber tool, and the issue seems to have cleared up (on the bench). If it returns, I'll try shaving a bit off the tab of the mag follower. I guess the design is just a bit on the tight side as to when the follower tab hits the hold open lever.

Years ago, I had an S&W 459, that would never hold open, I guess the follower tab missed the lever all together. Wish I hadn't sold it though, as I'd have my 12.6 now.
