P226 - need help with adjustable combat night sights.

I've been shooting my Sig P226R Platinum very little because it shoots low and very much to the right. I know it's not me as I'm shooting my Shadow and Para Ordnance LTC both in the same calibre as the 226R with no issues. Nice 1" groups in the 10, 9 and 8 rings. The 226 on the other hand is all nearly outside the black at the bottom right of my target.

The manual that came with the pistol does not include information for adjusting the adjustable combat night sights.

I need some insight on making adjustments as the rear sight only seems to be adjustable up and down.
 
If they are LPA sights, there should be a very very small screw on the side of the rear sight for windage adjustment.

Im not familiar with what adjustable night sights SIG is using right now so they may not be LPAs.

You may just need to move the sight in the dovtail.
 
What distance(s) are you shooting at?

Note that it may still be you, since each gun has a different trigger pull weight, trigger travel, trigger reach, overtravel, and grip; you might just need to change your gripping technique and become more accustomed to the trigger on your SIG.
 
Thanks guy, I appreciate the help. I figured at first it was me but I used to shoot a 229 quite extensively and didn't have any problems.

The rear sight does have an adjust for windage (the sights move up and down) but I'm concerned about the issue with shooting to the right quite severely as well too.
 
Windage = left/right

Elevation= up/down

As noted by Crosswind, just because you shoot another pistol well it could still be technique. Have someone else shoot it and bench it as well.
 
I didn't mean windage, I mean't elevation as far as rear sight adjustment. I did have another experienced shooter try it out, he couldn't knock down steel plates at 15 metres with it.
 
Are they factory std sights? If they are there should be a number on the left side of the sights ( both )

Get a smaller front sight and the gun will shoot higher.

and you can brass punch the rear sight over till you are ok.

They're not factory standard, they're installed from the Sig custom shop though, they're called "adjustable combat night sights".


PROBLEM SOLVED: I adjusted my grip a little, spent some time with that adjustable rear right, adjusted for elevation and I'm pretty much shooting 1" group at 10 metres now.
 
Actually, it was shooting very, very low. About 10 inches low. I was shooting to the right but it was my grip that needed to be adjusted.

Now, this is probably one of the most accurate handguns I've ever fired. It beats out my CZ SP01 in my hands and in my buddy who went shooting with me, an army Corporal who is a firearms trainer for the army. That alone is a pretty good testimonial to how awesome the Sig P22X series is but this pistol is the "Platinum" model with short reset trigger, etc.
