Hi Guys,

Actual owners would probably be best to answer this. Would like to get some input on the P226 X-Five in SS in .40 S&W

What are the differences between the 3?

Why the price difference?

Where are these made Germany or US?

Magazine is different from a standard P226?


X-Five - $2800 USD

X-Five Competition - $2000 USD

X-Five All Around - $1800 USD


I'm looking into these and doing my research. Any info is much appreciated.

What I know

X5 Sao, magwell, ambi safety, wood grips, adj trigger, different mag ( ext base )

X5 competition polymer grips, sao, magwell, ambi safety, non adj trigger, different mag ( ext base )

X5 all around dao/Sao , regular p226 mag, no safety

All are stamped made in Germany ( but I don't know if assembly is done there for sure)

If you have any questions about x5 all around or want pictures I have one

Every X-Five is made in Germany, regardless whether they are Exeter stamped or not
The all around is the closest to a standard p226, the trigger can even be swapped for a SRT and regular p226 grips can be used.
 
I have an X5 Level 1, and although it is 9mm, it should be close enough to give you my impressions, wonderful gun! Grips are larger by a bit then most standard guns but feel fantastic in your hand, gun feels like its made like a Swiss watch, so easy to clean and inspect, very tight but very smooth, heavy but in a good way, almost no recoil. Standard Sig 226 mags work great and almost jump out of the gun.
I have played with the trigger adjustments and turned everything right down and it feels wonderful. Pull is 2.2 lbs on my trigger scale.
The trigger does have a very little bit of creep but very predictable. Better trigger by far then my STI and just a hair below my CZ Tac Sport, which has a 1.7 lb break and almost zero creep.
The only change I did was replace my front sight with a Tritium Sig sight which I bought from Questar for 60$. Ordered a Sig sight puller from Brownells which made it so easy to swap. Sights are personal preference though.
When I compare the accuracy with my Tac Sport, STi Targetmaster, CZ Shadow Line, HK Mark 23, and my buddies S&W Model 41 target .22, it is better then all of them except for the Tac Sport. Between those two, it takes me more concentration to be the same accuracy with the X5 but is still very accurate.
So in summary, highly recommended from me!

You can get parts for the All-Around. If you have another model that needs a part replaced, you're stuck with a paper weight. Some models have had extractor issues with the 9mm version, so be sure to do some research. Next time I'm out to the range I'll take some videos for YouTube with mine, a Gray Guns tuned All-Around with Nill grips : )

A couple of small points to add to R30's reply.

Both the X-five and the X-five competition are all stainless. Frame and slide.
The X-five All Round has an alloy frame with a stainless slide.

Much different weight and feel to the gun. I like the weight of my competition but some prefer a lighter gun and would prefer the all round model.

mag wells can be added if you wanted...

The frame on my all round is stainless, just like the slide. Maybe the new ones are different.
 
I must have been having a good dream... I stand corrected, sorry folks. It does appear to have a stainless frame on the all round.

As you were, nothing to see here...
 
That Allround featured in iamcanadianeh's post used to sleep with me. I still haven't gotten over her loss. <weeping> Yes she was definitely all stainless and a pretty weighty package. However that makes for great shooting.

I modified a pair of aluminum P-226 grips for her. All it took was a "dremel" and a bit of time to get a very good fit. The aluminums were the slimmest of all the grips I had which I liked despite the beauty of the Nills.

I'm looking forward to seeing a U-Tube of her in action!
