You can't really go wrong with any P226, really. They're high quality pistols that age very well.
IMO, find out what features are most important for you in a gun, and go from there. There are a huge number of models/variations to choose from. IMO, prioritize a model that has a short reset trigger. I have owned a couple different versions- the P226 extreme was my first. It was a phenomenal gun, but I wish I would have started with a beavertail model.
Get a list together of what features you like/dislike, and I can almost guarantee that Sig will make a version that's perfect for you.

I've owned 3 Sigs in the past 6 years or so and the first one I purchased in 2012 was abysmal. It was an '07 manufacture and it had a damaged barrel and feed ramp. When I brought it back to Wolverine Supplies they went to exchange it and the whole batch of pistols they received were damaged. Fast forward to 2017, I have a Mk25 that has about 1000 rounds through it and it has been excellent. Sig has really stepped up their QC compared to what it was 10 years ago, well for their pistols atleast, I can't comment on their rifles.

They have been around since the 70s I believe and used by LE and Mil all over the world.
There are, of course, lemons but the same is true of most guns.
My concern with 226s is that there are so many variations now that I don't like the difference between retail and resale values. Having said that, if you know which variant you like, you'll have a good chance to pick up a used one on the EE for quite a bit less than retail. Stock older 226s can be had for around $700. The Tacticool ones go for about $1000ish. The Custom Shop, Legion and X series are way more but they're mostly 226s by name only at that point ( except maybe the Legion).

I doubt it, I don't understand how 3-4 different pistols can have the same damage in the same place without there being an issue from the factory.
There's no reason not to pick up an old Sig if you're not wanting any of the newer features (ie beavertail). I picked up a well worn match model from 1984 and all it required was a refurb with a parts kit and a new ejector.
Just bought a used p226 after owning and shooting three Glocks. Not sure what's wrong with it but used three different types of ammo and had tonnes of misfires. Even after keep using both actions some just would not fire. It also usually failed to.staynopen on last shot.as well. Any help is appreciated. I guess what I am saying is recommending shooting any used gun first before buying.i did not have the luxury this time. I may be back offering a 226 for sale at reduced rate.
